QUESTION: Who is your favorite YA sidekick character? Can be a villainous sidekick, a funny one, any character you think deserves a book of his or her own.
My answer? Kenji from Shatter Me. I love a suspenseful book with some comic relief and he had me laughing out loud.
*Complete long version of rules in sidebar under "Giveaway Details"
My favorite "sidekick" is Simon from the Mortal Instruments series. because he is usually thinking what I am thinking "What is going on!!!"

Thanks for the giveaway!
My favorite sidekick would be Carmel from Anna Dressed in Blood. She's the girly popular girl with an edge. And I absolutely loved that deep down she's an incredibly good person.

Thanks for the giveaway!
I love Simon! Those secretly-in-love-best-friend characters get me every time! I'm behind on that series -- I need to get caught up!!
ReplyDeleteOoh, good choice! I just read Anna Dressed in Blood and I also loved the fact that Carmel wasn't the typical pretty/popular mean girl. I love characters who have that unexpected twist!
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a favorite sidekick character but I thought Kimmie and Wes were awesome, funny and sarcastic characters in the Deadly Little Secret novels. Also just throwing this out there, Finnick, from the Hunger Games, is my fav secondary character EVER.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Did you watch the Hunger Games movie trailer yet?? Yeah, I might have teared up just a little...
ReplyDeleteHmm...This is a toughie :o) There are so many good characters, even 'secondary' characters in YA right now! Okay, I'm gonna go with...Actually it's a tie:
ReplyDeleteI love Kristy in 'Truth About Forever' - she adds such a good balance to Macy, and has some amaaazing lines, haha
AND
I really like Harley in 'Across the Universe' - he's fun, but he also is a great vehicle for introducing concepts and things key to the story.

I think Sarah Dessen does great secondary characters! Deb in What Happened to Goodbye. Also loved the boutique girls in Along for the Ride.
ReplyDeleteYesss!! I kinda teared up too especially at the reaping!
ReplyDeleteQUESTION: Who is your favorite YA sidekick character?
ReplyDeleteThis is a toughie, only because I can't think of a favorite, lol! There are tons of great sidekicks out there deserving of there own story.
I'm going for Oliver Hazard-Perry (sp?)! He's such an interesting friend, but sweet at the same time. And funny - in the most recent Blue Bloods book, he makes a ton of jokes and I thought it was so cute. :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting question though, had me thinking for a little while...
I tweeted also.
My favorite YA sidekick is Stevie Rae from the House of Night Series. She's uber awesome and has lots of issues she has to deal with herself that I think, it would be nice to get an entire book series about her.
ReplyDeleteemail: cruz042 at csusm dot edu
Oliver is another of those best friend/boy next door characters that I love :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I am embarrassed to say that I have not read House of Night! I need to get on that!
My favorite sidekick is Vee, Norah's best friend in the Hush Hush series. She is smart, funny and knows fashion. She is also very loyal and doesn't mind getting into a little trouble every now and then to help out her friend.

Helios from Lily of the Nile should totally get his own book.
ReplyDeletesnifflykitty@gmail.com
@JJ Vee definitely needs her own book!!
ReplyDelete@Maji My sister told me I had to read the Host. On my to-read list!
@SnifflyKitty I need to look up Lily of the Nile.
I completely agree with SnifflyKitty, I am dying for a book on Helios! I love his character; his bravery, compassionate nature, and heroic moves do not go unnoticed. edysicecreamlover18@gmailDOTcom
