In My Mailbox 11

For more info on IMM click here.  In My Mailbox was started as a YA book blog feature by The Story Siren in November 2009. Haul videos are nothing new; fashionistas have been posting them on YouTube since at least 2007.

First off, I was approved for Girl in the Clockwork Collar on Netgalley. Yay! Thank you Harlequin Teen! I am so excited that book two of the series will be in New York! And what a beautiful cover!

I also had a great week of swapping on Goodreads, where
I'm a member of a couple of ARC swap groups.

I was able to swap with Lyndsey for these:

Thumped by Megan McCafferty
and The Last Echo by Kimberly Derting.

and I swapped with Golden Witch and got Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins.

Then I swapped with Ann from the DAC (Debut Authors Challenge) group for Embrace by Jessica Shirvington. You know how I love those Aussie authors!

Thanks guys, you were great to swap with.

Then I picked up an early copy of 7 Clues to Winning You by Kristin Walker from my most beloved independent bookstore.

Finally, I have to talk about what was going OUT of my mailbox this week. At the end of February, I held my usual comments contest. Everyone who commented on a (non-giveaway) post gets their name put in the randomizer, one chance per comment. Then I draw names and let the winners pick from my pile of ARCs.

Jess from Jessy's Bookends picked an ARC of the Clockwork Prince. I mailed it the next day. Priority Mail. Then the post office sent her package on an epic journey spanning three states and about six stops. Finally, over two weeks later, her book arrived.

And she couldn't have been nicer about it. I kept emailing her to apologize and she was like, "Don't worry, Jen. It's like the gnome of Amelie. It will make it to me eventually."
Jess, I'm glad it finally showed up. Thanks for being so patient!

It was a great mailbox week for me. What's new with you??

  7. I am really interested to see what you think of the Girl in the Clockwork Collar. I had been so excited to get the first book in the series but I was a little underwhelmed with the story. I hope #2 is better!

    3. You should do a weekly post on the best giveaways!!

    4. I don't have a real strong opinions on strong giveaways. I just enter them mechanically lol.. Besides, that would generate more competition wouldn't it? ;)

  13. I'd never heard of The Girl in the Clockwork Collar. I will have to look into that one. I really like the cover.

I just finished Chopsticks (underwhelming. Sigh) and am starting Ditched, which looks cute. I had this huge haul from the library but actually had to take some things back. This weird thing called life got in the way! Hope to get back to some serious reading soon!

    1. That's why the library is so great -- if you get busy, you can just take the books back and they aren't sitting there staring reproachfully at you :)

  14. Sweet Evil! I hear that's awesome! Don't you love swapping? So much fun! I got a pretty awesome haul myself. Check it out if you like!

  15. Can you introduce me to some goodreads swap group? I have been looking for some people to swap books with :D

    1. The swap group I know about on Goodreads is called ARC Swap Group -- if you search in the Groups section, you should find it. I never had great luck with it until recently.

I'm also a huge fan of Paperback Swap. I've been a member for five years. The main part of the site lets you list books you want and then post books you don't want. But there are also games and forums with more informal swapping.
