Well, last week's box might have been quiet, but this week certainly wasn't!
My amazing library came through with a book I've been waiting for:
The Vanishing Game
by Kate Kae Myers
This counts toward the Debut Authors Challenge. I'm participating in that for the first time and really enjoying it.
Then, I got invited to a charity book sale. I went, but I wasn't all that optimistic. I was picturing dusty old Readers Digest Condensed Books.
But ... it was beyond awesome! They had just about every great book that's come out from January 2011 through Januray 2012.
It was hard to control myself. I must have been carrying around twenty books.I got a couple things that I'd already read to give to friends (Divergent, Shatter Me, etc.)
For me, I got six hardcovers for $20
Fever by Lauren DeStefano
Rivals by Daisy Whitney
Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood
Life Eternal by Yvonne Woon
Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma
Finally, three ARCs:
Team Human by Justine Larbalestier and Sarah Rees Brennan
Gilt by Katherine Longshore (also a debut author!)
The Lost Code by Kevin Emerson
Whew. I hope you made it this far, because you have got to enter my Hunger Games trivia giveaway! My friend Shanan from BookAddict and I are joining forces. Win a great swag package in celebration of the movie's release!
Hunger Games Trivia and Giveaway 3
How did Katniss and Prim's father die?
a) he died of blood poisoning
b) he was accidentally shot while hunting
c) he died in jail after being arrested for selling tessera in the black market
d) he was killed in a mine explosion
Remember the question number (3!) and enter here.
Don't forget to answer Shanan's question too!

ReplyDeleteCheck out my IMM for the week: http://adreamwithindream.blogspot.com/2012/03/in-my-mailbox-226-33.html
Wow -- you buy even more books than I do!
DeleteThanks for making me feel less guilty :)
You're so lucky that you got all those books for 20 dollars! I really want to read Fever and Born Wicked! The rest of the books look great, too. I wish that my town did more book sales, but my town in general is about as enthusiastic about books as a five-year-old would be about vegetables. I'm pretty sure I have enough excitement about books for half the town. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, that is sad to hear! What would we do without other book lovers to talk to??

ReplyDeleteVery excited about Born Wicked. I've heard a lot of good things about it.
DeleteI've had Vanishing Game since it came out but haven't gotten to it yet but I've heard really good things about it. That's a really good haul for $20, especially hardcover!
ReplyDeleteVanishing Game was interesting. The end was a HUGE twist. And no cliffhanger!
DeleteThat is so fabulous! I love getting new books to read - it totally makes my day! I'm looking forward to your reviews when you've read them.
ReplyDeleteHi Tressa!
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by :)
I go to my local charity book sale each year too. Sometimes you get lucky.
ReplyDeleteI know -- sometimes it's nothing special, but other times it's SO exciting.
DeleteI got Fever today at the library. I'm going to start reading it soon after I finish reading Wings of the Wicked.
ReplyDeleteAre you enjoying Wings of the Wicked? I thought that book really upped the stakes and kept me interested!
DeleteI finished it! Overall, I did enjoy it but I thought the parts where Ellie was trying to have a normal life was a bit slow. The ending took my breath away. I mean WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO WILL?!?!? I am looking forward to reading the final book because things are getting complicated and Ellie needs the Gabriel part of her more than ever now.
DeleteWow, that was some awesome charity sale!! You scored bigtime!! Enjoy all the lovely books!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Off to check out your mailbox now!
DeleteOMG, Fever! I read and loved it some much! Graffiti Moon..Born Wicked..Imaginary Girls...*faints*
ReplyDeleteGreat haul Jen, so jelousy for the charity book sale* looks around for something similar*

You are so kind -- I'm going to come say thanks on your blog and link to my two tag posts!
DeleteAwesome haul!! I never find anything that great when I'm hunting for used books. Though truthfully, I don't go hunting for used books as often as maybe I should. Still, great prices! Happy reading, friend! <3
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Mailbox. I mean, 6 harcovers for $20!?! Wow. I so wish I could have attended! But then again, I might end up buying everything, so yeah... :P Great books! It looks like you got almost all the books I've been drooling over!
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to read Born Wicked. That book just sounds so awesome. I have only read a few books with witches but I am sure I will love this one.
ReplyDeleteWow 50 comments.. seriously, what's your secret? lol
ReplyDeleteMust be my sparkling personality. Though half of them are me commenting back :)
Deleteeven if half are your comments, people still comment back afterwards.. u have some loyal readers :)
DeleteAwesome haul! Sounds like my kind of charity book sale!!! FYI, I'm going to be co-hosting/participating in a read-along of Wither and Fever that starts in the middle of the month. If you can hold off on reading Fever for that long, you should totally participate! Participants can read one or both, and there will be a giveaway at the end (most likely a gift card). I'll be posting more info on my site soon!
ReplyDeleteAnd sorry I'm just now getting round to your IMM - I had a pretty busy weekend!
