In celebration of the Hunger Games movie, I'm giving away the winner's choice of one of these three great post-apocalyptic/dystopian books PLUS a mockingjay pin!
Here's the quick scoop on all three books:
A Long Long Sleep by Anna Sheehan is a futuristic retelling of Sleeping Beauty. Rosalinda is awakened by a kiss after a sixty-year long sleep. While she's been frozen in stasis, her family and friends have died, and everything she knew was changed by the Dark Times. Rosalinda is now heir to a vast corporate empire, but all she wants is to be a normal girl, to immerse herself in art and get to know the boy who kissed her awake. But someone is trying to kill her, and if she wants to stay alive, she'll have to decide who she can trust.

In Article 5 by Kristen Simmons, Ember Miller lives in a world governed by the Moral Statues. When her mother is arrested for noncompliance and Ember is assigned to a rehabilitation center, she feels betrayed by the fact that one of the arresting officers was none other than Chase, the boy she thought she loved. Chase comes to her, saying he wants to help her find her mother. Can she trust him?

Starters by Lissa Price is a brand-new post-apocalyptic/sci-fi thriller. In the book, everyone age 20 to 60 has been wiped out by biological warfare. Young Starters like Callie have banded together, squatting in abandoned buildings and trying to evade the authorities. But Callie's little brother needs medicine, and Callie decides to rent her body to a rich Ender, one of the elderly who were spared through vaccination. Callie will enter a twilight sleep and the Ender will control her body via computer chip. But then chip malfunctions, and Callie learns that her body is going to be used to commit a murder.

I've read and enjoyed all these three books and know you will too!

To me, it felt like more of a quest story set in a dystopian world. I know some readers didn't love the main character, which I guess is a personal thing...

ReplyDeleteWell, I wish you luck!
DeleteOnly a few more hours. I'll announce the winner in the morning.
