Extra! Extra! is my weekly Sunday post featuring brand new additions to my TBR pile as well as a summary of what's coming up on the blog.
Since I'm on vacation, I'm not linking this week, but if you stop by and leave a comment, I will come and visit you back :)
What did I buy/swap/borrow this week?
The Thing About the Truth by Lauren Barnholdt
Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols
Never Enough by Denise Jaden

What's Coming Up For Next Week?
Monday: Reclusive Bibliophile's If You Like is featuring one of my favorite 90's films: The Cutting Edge. Are there really YA books out there with that perfect combo of spoiled ice princess, ruggedly handsome hockey player and insta-hate? Well, I know some books that have two out of three. Stop by and check them out.
Tuesday: Hot Off the Presses! Find out what new YA books are releasing this week.
Wednesday: My blogger friends Steph at The Fake Steph and Ashelynn at Gypsy Book Reviews are kicking off our summer Vampire Academy Read-a-Thon, Twitter hashtag #Vladass. (That stands for Vlad Academy Summer School, but it's also a state of mind.) Stop in and join in the fun.
Thursday: Review of Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols. I have serious fear of flying. Could I handle this book about daredevil pilots?
Though Freebie Friday is on a brief hiatus during my vacation, I'm also bringing back my comments contest for July. For every comment you leave on a July blog post, you'll be entered to win. I have some great books and ARCs to give away, so don't be shy! Open internationally!
- Tell me in comments: what was new with you this week? Since I'm on vacation, I'm not linking, but if you leave a comment, I'll do my best to visit you back :)
The Thing About The Truth looks interesting! I might be persuaded to read The Vampire Academy books, but I'll let ya'll convince me that they're worth the time! ;)
ReplyDeleteOkay, you can read our weekly recaps on Wednesdays. They're actually pretty addictive :)
DeleteREAD THEM!
DeleteI loved Such A Rush! I've always wanted to take pilot lessons but they are so expensive. Maybe I should get a job at an airport, but the small airport by us has been known for lots of accidents so maybe not. Never Enough sounds interesting. I'm not vacationing much but will be going on a few rafting trips soon including a big one overnight one in August. I need to re-read the VA books to compile my 1001 reasons why I love Adrian post lol Trying to help him win the YA Crush Tourney so now would be a great time to make my post! LOL And maybe write him another song.

NEVER would I take flying lessons! But I have the highest admiration for pilots. When I'm getting on a plane, I check out the pilot and they always seem so capable and calm.
DeleteGreat books! Funny how all their covers look similar, so they must all be really good :) Such a Rush is on my list! The summary sounds great!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new reads!!!
There does seem to be a flying hair trend!
DeleteAll three of those books look wonderful! I've heard grat things about Such A Rush!I hopeyou enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI've never read VA before, I'm slightly ashamed of that, maybe I'll have to change that.
I hopeyou're having a wonderful vacation! Happy reading!
No need to be ashamed!!
DeleteI'm really enjoying it -- perfect summer read.
'Such a Rush' and 'Never Enough' are on my wishlist ... they look fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteI remember when 'The Cutting Edge' came out I really, really wanted to see it, but I still haven't! That was when ice skating was all the rage -- I loved watching it. Maybe I should get the movie and finally watch it!
Enjoy your week!
I LOVED Such a Rush -- reviewing next week.
DeleteAnd ... I got Cutting Edge on Netflix streaming last week. Got omeone in my family to watch with me and they said, "this isn't very good." So maybe it was good in the 90s?
LUCKY! I really need to go to a book store soon :/ I really wanna read these books lol:) July is going to be crazy tonsss of new awesome books:)
ReplyDelete-JennyC
There IS a ton of great stuff in July :)
DeleteI think I might be the first to say this but I hated Such a Rush. I haven't written my review yet, but it's not going to be pretty =/ I can't wait to read your Monday post. I absolutely LOVE The Cutting Edge!
ReplyDeleteI am glad to read different opinions on a book. Look forward to reading your thoughts!
DeleteSuch a Rush looks really good!! Can't wait to see your review!! The Cutting Edge is one of my favorite movies!! I am excited to see your post on Monday and possibly discover some awesome books I haven't read. :)
ReplyDeleteYay -- so happy that there are other Cutting Edge fans out there!
DeleteVampire Academy as in by Richelle Mead?!! Wooop! That's gonna be so much fun :D As much as I want to participate, I would just have to watch from the sidelines coz I am still drowning in review books.
ReplyDeleteYES --- that Vampire Academy. Watching from the sidelines is fine.
DeleteI can't wait for Wednesday! ;D Although I still need to finish VA, ha ha.
ReplyDeleteHope you love the books you got this week, lovey! <3 can't wait to see what you think of them.
Get reading, you slacker!!
DeleteAwesome contemps this week! I desperatley want to read all three of them! Happy reading:))
ReplyDeleteMy STS
The Thing About The Truth's cover is cracking me up. The look on the girl's face is so puzzling? What is she thinking about? Hmmmm... I totally joined Fake Steph's blog. Thanks for turning me on to it! I loved reading the Vampire Academy and often revisit when I need some brain comfort food! Hope your vacation is treating you well!
ReplyDeleteWell, she doesn't look that into the guy, does she? So I'm curious to see what that is about.
DeleteI read Never Enough yesterday and found some interesting stuff; loved the male love interest :) Actually did quite a lot of reading this weekend with solid if not outstanding reads.
ReplyDeleteHope your vacation is awesome!
Thanks so much!
DeleteAbsolutely NOTHING was new with me this week. I need a new life I think. I blame it on the Winter blues.
ReplyDeleteThe cover for THE THING ABOUT THE TRUTH does beg some Q&A.
Ooh three books I am dying to read. I can't wait for your reviews. Late this morning I finished Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins. Wow I seriously can't believe I didn't read this sooner. I didn't want to put it down, hence the staying up late lol. Since that was a demon book I'm gonna move on to Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins. I love reading books together with the same theme.
ReplyDeleteMy school holidays just started, so I went to the library and borrowed a ton of books (at least twenty!), including Revived by Cat Patrick, Shadow Heir by Richelle Mead (I originally picked up this series because it was written by well, RICHELLE MEAD, but ended up really liking it) and The Fault in Our Stars. Oh, and I finished reading The Golden Lily! Adrian is adorable and sweet and hot and just plain amazing. Although he does seems destined to a perpetually doomed love life....
ReplyDeleteAnyway, hope you enjoy your vacation, and looking forward to reading your review on Such A Rush!
So excited for Wednesday and I can't wait to hear what you think about Such A Rush.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read Such A Rush, so many bloggers are raving about it and it's killing me not to be in the know! I was trying to get The Thing About The Truth at ALA, but they told me it was gone pretty fast - I'm intrigued by that one!
ReplyDelete(Hope you're having fun on vacation!)
Oh you always get some great books! I can't wait to read your review for Such a Rush! :)
