Freebie Friday 13

Happy Friday -- can you believe this is the next-to-last weekend of the summer -- at least here in the US...

And Freebie Friday is back!  If you're new, here's how it works: if you see a book that interests you, leave me a comment.  (If you don't have an email linked to the profile you comment with, then please also leave your email in the Google Doc.)

That's it! I'll accept entries until tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 9 am EST. Then random.org will pick a winner who gets to choose one book or ARC from the stack. I'll mail it out right away :)

Open internationally, because I love my international followers!

Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard, which I'll be reviewing next week (ARC)

False Memory by Dan Krokos (ARC)

Spark by Amy Kathleen Ryan

The Thing About the Truth by Lauren Barnholdt

The Waiting Sky by Lara Zielin

Your comment can be about anything. Tell me what you're reading, or what you are going to do the last two weeks of summer, or what you're looking forward to this fall!
This Freebie Friday is over, but please check back on future Fridays. If you don't want to miss one, use the box in the top right sidebar and subscribe by email.

  1. Yay, Freebie Friday is back;) So I'm taking off for Biloxi today to see B.B. King with my mom and plan to be reading The Brides of Rollrock Island if I get a little time by the pool:) Hope you have a great weekend, Jen and I'll chat with you later:)

  2. I like summer, but my favorite time of year is fall. I can't wait for the cooler weather! Of course, here in TX, we won't really see much cooler weather until at least October. :( But anything is a reprieve from those triple digit days.

Right now I'm reading Outpost, but I think I'm gonna take a break from it so I can start What's Left of Me. Jen M.'s review made me really want to pick it up. I'm also listening to This Dark Endeavor, a Frankenstein prequel. I'm not very far in, but I'm already picturing Ben Barnes as the main character. Yummy!

Have a great weekend, Jen, and happy reading! :D

I love the weather in late summer/early fall - of course, that does mean that winter is coming :( My oldest starts school in less than 2 weeks and I'm kind of excited for what I will have time to do with my little princess and more time to read!

I'm reading the 3rd book in the Maze Runner series. I love it. It's so amazing!

  70. I just finished Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen (my first Sarah Dessen book!) I went through a dystopian phase and have really been enjoying the more contemporary young adults recently. I would love to read The Waiting Sky. This is a great giveaway- Thanks!

    1. That is one of the darker Sarah Dessens, but I really liked it. My absolute favorite Sarah Dessen is This Lullaby.
Waiting Sky is a great contemporary!!

  72. Although I didn't really enjoy Fallen, Torment or Passion very much, I am currently reading Rapture by Lauren Kate. Fingers crossed I like it better than it's three predecessors! And honestly, I want to see how Lauren Kate ties up all the loose ends and what happens with Daniel and Luce. Thanks for the chance to win some amazing books!

    1. I stopped after the first book. Angel books aren't my very favorite. But I know that a lot of people LOVE those books, so I hope you enjoy them. And I agree -- after investing time reading three books, you really need to know how things wrap up!

  74. My summer was not so great (health issues), but I'm optimistic that fall will run a little smoother. I'm currently reading Frostbite by Richelle Mead. I'm a bit late to the Vampire Academy series, but better late than never!

    1. Kelly, I'm so sorry to hear that. Sending good wishes for your recovery!
And I was late to the VA series too. Did you see our St Vladimir Summer School posts? Here is the one on Frostbite:

  75. The one that grabbed my attention first was Spark because I really enjoyed Glow and am anxious to see what happens next! I also have Something Strange and Deadly and False Memory (love dystopia!) on my Wishlist.

I've read quite a few fantastic books over the summer, including: Cinder by Marissa Meyer, A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving, and Never Enough by Denise Jaden.

    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  76. I just finished Cashore's Graceling (actually, it was good, but wasn't that fantastic - the characters are awfully distant and it irked me so much - wait, why am I blabbering here?) and currently started reading The Maze Runner! Fortunately it's awesome so far, and I believe I'm going to have a spectacular reading experience (like what I had with THG series and Chaos Walking trilogy series!)

Anyway, that's an amazing giveaway! Thank you for making it international :D False Memory has been in my radar for a while, and I've been wanting to read more and more books written by male authors!

  79. I'm actually pretty sad that the summer is ending, I love the sun, the heat and everything that makes summer perfect time of the year.
I'm currently reading Losing Lila by Sarah Alderson and swooning over Alex. :)

I've heard of Losing Lila. The title sounds sad!

  80. School's starting in a week, sigh. I didn't get as much reading done as I had hoped. I'm currently reading City of Bones by Cassandra Clare then Anna Dressed in Blood and Girl of Nightmares. Originally planned to wait until the final TMI book was released but the movie forced my hand (tons of spoilers were flying around o.O)

    1. I've read the first three TMI, then I got sidetracked. That's a good point about the spoilers. Is the movie just based on book one??

  81. I'm kind of excited (and sad) that summer's ending. Excited because I'll be starting college and it's a new experience and I can't wait but at the same time I don't want to start college because it's definitely going to be different without my bestfriends (but hey, new friendships to make!) and I guess I'm going to miss the highschool life.

Sad because I'll no longer be able to just lie down on every flat surface I can find and I'm kind of scared of not having enough time when college starts for the bunch of books I just bought (and since I'm a procrastinator, I -should- be kind of afraid. I'm practically my own villain).

Hopefully, in these final days of freedom, I'll be to make the most of it by hanging out more and reading more books (it's a challenge!).

  82. Summer is over here, the kids started school this week. But I'm more of a fall girl anyways, summer and heat are not my favorite. I'm looking forward to apple picking and cooler weather and fall colors and pie and chili and lots of great books that will be coming out this fall! Thanks for another freebie Friday!
