NEW BOOKS:
My amazing bookstore had a book I requested in early. It's not my usual kind of read, but I've heard it's really good. I was too lazy to pick it up yesterday, so I don't have a photo, but this is it...
Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff
NEW WINNERS:
Winner of Freebie Friday was....
Doodle from Doodle's Book Blog. She chose Defiance by CJ Redwine!
WHAT MIGHT YOU HAVE MISSED ON THE BLOG THIS WEEK?
Reviews:
Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian. Should you have a burning desire to read it? Click to read my review and find out.
Ten by Gretchen McNeil. Did this retelling of a classic Agatha Christie mystery make me hide under the covers?
Plus check out my thoughts on the recent study that claimed 55% of YA is purchased by readers over 18.
RANDOM WEIRDNESS:
Are you guys getting those strange, syntax-challenged anonymous blog comments that link to other sites? This is my favorite one that I fished out of spam lately:
"You're now not really much more smartly-liked than you might be right now. You're verу intellіgent."
Why, thank you. .. I think.
Next week on the blog -- a review of Because It Is My Blood by Gabrielle Zevin
Hot Off The Presses with a giveaway and LOTS more fun stuff. I hope you'll stop by!
Tell me what's new with you in comments or leave me a link :)
I wouldn't normally pick up Stormdancer either but hearing so many great things about it makes me want to check it out.
ReplyDeleteI got this spam comment with a link recently:
"I all the time used to study piece of writing in news papers but now as I am a user of web therefore from now I am using net for articles or reviews, thanks to web."
I have no clue... I like yours better. HAHA! :)
I can't decide if a computer generates the comments, or if it is someone who is learning English and hasn't quite mastered the syntax. They're very amusing, though :)
DeleteLol that spam comment is great. I want to be smartly-liked too. I got one last week that basically said I WASN'T smart.
ReplyDelete"Everything published was most very logical, but what about this? Try adding some content. Have you tried it? Content is what readers allow."
Try adding some content? That's very funny!
DeleteI got a good one too: "Appreciating the dedication you put into your website and detailed information you present. It's great to come across a blog every one in a while that isn't he same unwanted rehashed material. Excellent read! I've bookmarked your site and I'm including your RSS feeds to my Google account. My homepage - LINK TO SPAMMY SITE"
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy Stormdancer-I had a lot of trouble with all of the descriptions but I know most people have loved it.
Thanks. Samurai warriors and steampunk are not my usual reading fare, but I like to try new things!
DeleteWow, your comment sounds almost real. Actually the first one I got sounded real. Then I realized it linked to some site that sold shoes.
I'm currently reading Stormdancer! It's amazing! First 100 pages are confusing but once you get into the story it becomes amazing! I can't wait to see your review for it! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it -- I'm excited to try something completely different.
DeleteI've finished it last night! :) I just love it! It's all full of fantasy and new things! :)
DeleteHmm I get them too...Most of them are very annoying with loads of links and other random stuff! Congrats to the winner I might enter the next Freebie Friday. :D And OOh I love Gabrielle Zevin so will definitely be stopping by again soon! :D x
ReplyDeleteOh and I forgot to say...I'm a new-ish follower! :D
DeleteWelcome :)-- definitely try to stop by next Friday -- I have a fun topic planned.
DeleteI actually had time to read last night yay. I started Pushing the Limits and am so loving it. I am determined to finish this asap so I can move on to the many books I just bought that so need to be read.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that those books finally came. Hope the others show up too!
DeleteI pre-ordered Stormdancer. Very excited about that!
ReplyDeleteLet me know how you like it!
DeleteHaha, I hate spam, but that one is quite funny :p Happy reading with Stormdancer. I hope you're going to love it as much as everybody else :D
ReplyDeleteMy haul.
I guess if I have to have spam, I'd rather it be funny....
DeleteSpam seems to be getting nicer and nicer. Of course, maybe if the email addresses didn't show up, I wouldn't be suspicious.
ReplyDeleteStormdancer looks good! Though I hear it has elements of manga, so I'm not sure if I'd like that or not.
Thanks for sharing!
Nicer and nicer, weirder and weirder....
DeleteDoesn't spam just irritate the crap out of ya. Hope you enjoy Stormdancer. I thought it was great. Happy reading...

AS long as it ends up in my spam folder, I'm okay with it. So far Blogger spam catcher seems to be working...
DeleteStormdancer has so much hype surrounding it, and it wasn't until some of the negative reviews started pouring in that I started debating if I really wanted to read it. Who knows. :\ I'm looking forward to your review, though!
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I try not to read other reviews before I tackle a book. I did read the Kirkus review, which was pretty glowing ("superb") but since this isn't my typical kind of book, maybe I'd better take a look...
DeleteI have been getting so much spam lately! It's nice spam, but still. I hope you enjoy Stormdancer. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteGlad it isn't just me!
DeleteI love the cover of Stormdancer and look forward to your review of it, what an great week on the blog! Thanks for being a part of The Sunday Post
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting -- you're the sweetest!
DeleteSometimes for entertainment I got through and read my spam mail. I get sooo many laughs out of it! haha
ReplyDeleteMY SUNDAY POST
I get them too! I think a favorite of mine would have had to be this one.
ReplyDelete"I think that what you typed was actually vеry reаsonable. But, ωhat about this? whаt if you ωrotе a catchier tіtle? I mean, Ӏ don't wish to tell you how to run your blog, but what if you added a title that grabbed a person's attention? I mean "Review: Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead" іs kinda boring. You could looκ at Yahoo's front page and watch how they write news titles to get people to open the links. You might add a related video or a pic or two to get readers excited about what you'vе wгitten. In my οрinіon, it might bгing your blog а littlе lіvelier. Also visit my web page :: best hand cream on"
It's like REALLY? haha, but yours is pretty good too! I hope you enjoy Stormdancer! :D
I'm getting SO many of those comments lately. They all love me and tell me how very wise I am and how fast my pages load lol
ReplyDeleteOooo!! Stormdancer! I want!..lol
ReplyDeleteI actually haven't gotten any of those comments, guess my blog isn't "cool" enough ..lol
Have a great week Jen!
I've gotten weird comments before, too, but not often. Not enough for me to activate the dreaded captcha :)
ReplyDeleteAs for what's new? Well, been so busy with school. I also changed my design on my blog (again)... By the way, I have a post tomorrow that mentions you :) Unfortunately, I couldn't think of a story to write about my obsession with Matt Bomer. I'm participating instead in Book Blogger Confessions :)
I think I'll do that instead. BBC 1st/3rd Monday, and Matt Bomer Monday 2nd/4th Monday :)
I've heard good things about STORMDANCER & the cover is divine. I do judge!!
ReplyDeleteStormdancer looks amazing! I love all the different elements all thrown into one book! I can't wait to see if the library gets it or to read your review!
ReplyDeleteI've heard great things about Stormdancer. Can't wait to hear what you think.
