Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
I love mysteries. And I'm so happy that YA authors like Jill Hathaway, Kim Derting, Barry Lyga, and Kim Harrington are writing such great ones.
Back when I first started blogging I wrote about my love of YA mysteries and my love of teen detective Clarity Fern on my Goodreads review of Kim Harrington's Perception.
When I saw that Kim Harrington had a new series coming out, I was beyond excited. Then on Monday I read on Kim's blog that the book has a new cover!
Here's the blurb:
A haunted house, a buried mystery, and a very angry ghost make this one unforgettable thriller.
Jade loves the house she's just moved into with her family. She doesn't even mind being the new girl at the high school: It's a fresh start, and there's that one guy with the dreamy blue eyes. . . .
But then things begin happening. Strange, otherworldly things.
Jade's little brother claims to see a glimmering girl in his room. Jade's jewelry gets moved around, as if by an invisible hand. Kids at school whisper behind her back like they know something she doesn't.
Soon, Jade must face an impossible fact: that her perfect house . . . is haunted.
Haunted by a ghost who's seeking not just vengeance, but the truth. The ghost of a girl who ruled Jade's school -- until her untimely death last year. It's up to Jade to put the pieces together before her own life is at stake. As Jade investigates the mystery, she discovers that her new friends in town have more than a few deep, dark secrets.
But is one of them a murderer?
I LOVE ghost stories, so I'm very excited about this one! What do you think of the new cover? Here's old vs. new:

I know, right? So excited!
DeleteThis sounds really good! I love ghost stories too!
ReplyDeleteI know you do!
DeleteI also love ghost stories, mysteries, and Kim Harrington's mysteries so I think this will be a good read for me. I remember discussions about covers where the girl looks like she is dead and it seems like there is actually good cause for that appearance on this book's cover.
ReplyDeleteYes, there has been controversy about the "dead girl" covers -- see my Pinterest board for some of them here:

But for a mystery where there IS a dead body, I say go for it!
Uh this sounds so good! I like ghost stories when they aren't too scary :) Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteMy WOW post
Me too -- thanks for stopping by!
DeleteSo adding this to Goodreads! Ghosts creep me out, but I still love reading books with them in it! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love ghosts. If you want, I'll read it first and tell you how scary it is :)
DeleteThis was my pick a few weeks ago!! I think I like the first cover better. It gives off a creepier vibe. This one is pretty though.
ReplyDeleteThe first one looks more like suspense. But I really like the new one!
DeleteDefinitely added to my TBR list. Looks awesome! I'm a new follower here and new to WoW.
ReplyDeleteSo here's my WoW pick for this week.
Welcome!!!
DeleteI haven't heard of this one! But I'm totally intrigued! I LOVE mystery every once in a while and this looks like a fabulous read! Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteStop by MY WOW?

Mysteries are some of my favorites!
DeleteI like the older cover better, only because it was spooky... this just has a girl on the cover nothing else.... But i am really excited to read it:D
ReplyDeleteGreat Pick!!! I love mysteries as well- you should really check out Untraceable by S.R. Johannes :D
My WoW is http://ilovebooksclub101.blogspot.com/2012/10/waiting-on-wednesday-8.html
Hmm... yes the old cover was spooky, but this new one screams "dead body -- solve the crime." To me, at least!
DeleteNice pick! The story sounds intense and I love that creepy cover! Thanks for sharing, Jen.
ReplyDeleteGlad to find another fan of the cover!
Deletethe cover is nice but I'm not into ghost stories
ReplyDeleteReally? Why not???
DeleteI'm a scaredy cat!

Another vote for new cover. Need to tally these...
DeleteI wonder why the cover change?
I lovee ghost stories too. And this sounds like its full of mystery. Thanks so much for sharing & for stopping by my post :)

Glad you could stop by too!
DeleteThis is the second time today I have seen an amazing sounding book to add to my goodreads and realized it was already there! LOL Maybe it had no cover before or a different one? Or... this book just slipped my mind. It sounds amazing! I also love mysteries so I'll be looking forward to this one! :)
ReplyDeleteMy W.O.W.
Yep, new cover.
DeleteI love the cover! The books sounds fairly interesting, I'm not a huge mystery person, but with the paranormal aspect I generally like them..lol
ReplyDeleteGreat pick!
I like the new cover. Yes, it's creepy, but it's a mystery.
DeleteNoooooo! I absolutely loved the old cover! I had actually just featured is as the cover of the day over at Cover to Cover a couple weeks ago. The new one is so much more generic and unoriginal =(
ReplyDeleteAw, sorry you don't like it. I guess I won't know for sure until I read the book. I just like the cover to fit....
DeleteI agree!
ReplyDeleteI don't like mysteries but this still sounds interesting to me. Maybe because of the paranormal element.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to try to find the old cover to see what all the hoopla is about.
Since Goodreads changed the cover, I put old vs new so you can decide for yourself...
DeleteI though that the older cover stood out more and was creepier. It's not that this new cover is bad...
ReplyDeleteIDK. I need to read the book first. The new one is sorta Deadly Cool while the old one is sorta Unwind. For me, it depends which one fits.
DeleteI'm very much looking forward to this one! Love creepy ghost mysteries! But I liked the old cover better. It gave a creepy ghost vibe where the new one does give more of suicide/damaged girl vibe.
ReplyDeleteMy WOW
Damaged girl vibe could be good... Maybe that's why she's a ghost now.
DeleteI don't really like ghost mysteries but, this one does sounds pretty good I just might add it to my TBR list. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteKristin @ Young Adult Book Haven
why a cover change.trowing a tantrum . i'll wait for the paperback . great wow
ReplyDeleteOh, I actually loved the old cover more - gave it an extra dose of the creep-factor! Sounds like a good book to read with the lights on ;) I'm looking forward to it too! Thanks for the rec!
ReplyDeleteOh, I just saw this book yesterday and was drooling over it! However, I want the old cover back! The new one is kinda weird. :/
ReplyDeleteI love a great mystery read. There should be more.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind getting into a good mystery right now and I love the ghost story! My problem is that a lot of YA mysteries seem weak to me or pretty obvious from the start. Meh. I'mm definitely add this to my list and read when it's dark and gloomy this winter. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteI am such a wimp when it comes to ghost stories. It freaks me out. Maybe I shouldn't be reading late in the night. That cover looks so creepy. She's just lying there.. -_- Thanks for sharing this one, because I'm not sure if I'd read it..But then again I love mystery novels
