Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
I can't even tell you how excited I am about these two books:
How to Lead a Life of Crime
by Kirsten Miller
To be published by Razorbill on February 21, 2013
Kirsten Miller is the author of The Eternal Ones YA series published by Razorbill and the Kiki Strike middle grade series published by Bloomsbury. I'm a huge fan of her work and I can't wait to read this.
Here's the blurb:
A Meth Dealer. Prostitute. A Serial Killer.
Anywhere else, they’d be vermin. At the Mandel Academy, they’re called prodigies. The most exclusive school in New York City has been training young criminals for over a century. Only the most ruthless students are allowed to graduate. The rest disappear.
Flick, a teenage pickpocket, has risen to the top of his class. But then Mandel recruits a fierce new competitor who also happens to be Flick’s old flame. They’ve been told only one of them will make it out of the Mandel Academy. Will they find a way to save each other—or will the school destroy them both?
So .... will Flick and his flame survive? Will Razorbill let me review this? Stay tuned and find out ...
Update after post was scheduled: YES! While Penguin rejected most of my NetGalley requests, they said yes to this one yesterday. *happy dance*
Also Known As
by Robin Benway
To be published on February 26, 2013 by Walker Children's
Robin Benway wrote Audrey, Wait! -- which I raved about in my "I'm With the Band" roundup post -- and also The Extraordinary Secrets of April, May and June. I love her books!
Here's the scoop on this one:
This one sounds like Heist Society meets Gossip Girl! I'm so up for that. Sometimes I really need a break from the dystopian gloom and doom.
Thanks, Bloomsbury, for letting me read this one. Can't wait!
What book are you dying to read? Let me know in comments, and let me know if you have a WoW post today and I'll visit you back :)
Nice pick! Glad you got approved. Enjoy the book :)
ReplyDeleteBoth new books to add to my TBR! Yes! I'm especially in love with the idea of How to Lead a Life of Crime!
ReplyDeleteJessica @ Hopelessly Devoted Bibliophile
I'm so excited to rad both of these :)
DeleteHa...having the same problem with Penguin/Razorbill. :( I'd seen How to Lead a Life of Crime but didn't pay it much attention. Now I MUST read it. It sounds fun and exciting and just...yeah, I have to read it now. Thanks. :P
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW. Happy Wednesday! :D
It's not just us :(
DeleteMaybe they have selected bloggers they work with? I don't know. If they don't want to accept any blogger requests for a title maybe they could say that...
I think I got both of these two (Penguin rejected a bunch of mine too-hearing that from you makes me feel so much better). I did not connect the two names but I really liked the first Kiki Strike book so that makes me more excited about this one. I also loved The Extraordinary Secrets...
ReplyDeleteI love when we're in sync on books!
I loved both of Robin Benway's books so I am super-excited!
DeleteThose both sound awesome!! Penguin denied all of my 6 pending requests. They went on a denial spree yesterday apparently. Lol!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I saw a lot of :( on Twitter.
DeleteNo WoW post today, but I did review one of my fave books ever if you want to check that out;)
ReplyDeleteI have How to Lead a Life of Crime on my TBR list too, but this is the first time I have seen the cover. Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to go request it and see if I can break my 'Penguin Decline' streak:)
You too? This is getting comical.
DeletePenguin, Dutton, Razorbill, etc. WE LOVE YOU why don't you love us back?
Wowzas, its so hard to believe we are already waiting for books from 2013! Awesome choices :)

I've been waiting for it since before it had a cover, I think. And I kept trying to win it on the author's blog, but I kept just missing the deadlines :(

ReplyDeleteHOLY CRAP THESE BOTH SOUND SO FREAKING GOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI know! I really need a break from dystopian and po-apoc!

ReplyDeleteJesse @ Pretty in Fiction
Argh -- I have some other review stuff to read first. I must wait!

ReplyDeleteI know -- WHEN is that third Heist Society book coming out? *drums fingers impatiently*
DeleteI'm reading Black Heart right now, and now I wanna read How to Lead a Life of Crime! These crime books are really entertaining. ;) (Now I just hope i wont turn into a mobster when I grow up, lol!) And I LOVED Heist Society, so I might like Also Known As too. Awesome picks!
ReplyDeleteMy love for the Curseworkers series and Heist society and All These Things I've Done is the reason I can't wait for these two!
DeleteHOW TO LEAD A LIFE OF CRIME does look very interesting.
