Happy Friday! I don't know about you, but I'm ready for a fun discussion topic -- and a giveaway :)
You've probably heard this song.
Beware: it's one of those things that just sticks in your head. I'm humming it right now.
It's about a girl who tells her boyfriend that they are never getting back together.Never. Ever! Do I believe her? Yeah. Kinda. Okay, not really.
So in the spirit of on-again off-again couples, couples with huge obstacles, couples that are just not meant to be together, here's my list of:
YA Couples who are Never Ever Ever Getting (Back) Together*
*Some of them never had a prayer. Some I truly believe are permanently broken up. Others have a chance! There's always hope, right?
11. Nikki and Jack from the Everbound series by Brodi Ashton.
Yeah, this has been one rocky relationship. She disappears for six months, then at the end of the first book, he.. no, I can't tell you. Read the book, and tell me: can these two ever get back together?
10. Eliza and Cooper from One Night That Changes Everything by Lauren Barnholdt.
Eliza was really mad because Cooper lied, so she said something terrible about him on the internet and then he and his friends stole her secret notebook? Is there any future for this troubled couple?
9. Colby and Bev from The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour
This couple had a deal that they'd travel together the year after graduation. Then Bev reveals a secret: she's going to college instead. Heartbreak! Betrayal! Girl bands! You've got to read this one.
8. Logan and Gwen from Crimson Frost (part of the Frost series) by Jennifer Estep
She can see everything he's trying to hide just by touching him. Then his father is in charge of putting her on trial for her life. Then, well, he's not really himself and does something he thinks she'll never forgive. Uh oh!
7. Romeo and Juliet from Juliet Immortal and Romeo Redeemed by Stacey Jay
He betrayed her, and now the two of them are on separate sides of an eternal battle for lovers' souls. Can she ever forgive him?
6. Ruby and Liam from The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
Ruby is slow to trust anyone, and then she finally gets closer to Liam, she has to ... no. I can't put any spoilers here. Let's just say this couple has an uphill battle...
5. Anna and Cas from Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
Yeah, Anna's a tough girl to warm up to, being that she's angry. Okay, murderous. And a ghost. But these two have such fantastic chemistry...
4. Rhine and Linden from the Wither series by Lauren DeStefano
Okay, so Linden's father might have kidnapped Rhine. And maybe forced her to marry Linden. And, yeah, Linden has these other wives. And Rhine is in love with someone else.
3. Cassel and Lila from the Curseworkers Series by Holly Black
Cassel has been secretly pining for Lila for years. There's just one little obstacle to their relationship: he thinks he murdered her. Yeah, that's a bit of a problem...
2. Aria and Perry AND Liv and Roar from the Under the Never Sky Series by Veronica Rossi
Perry is an Outsider and Aria is a Dweller and the two groups don't trust each other. Roar loves Liv, but she's kinda betrothed to this other guy. Will this ill-fated foursome ever find happiness?
And... my number one never-ever-getting-back-together couple:
1. Karou and Akiva from the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor.
They are on opposite sides of an epic blood feud. They tried to fight for their love, but then he did something so unforgivable that I wonder if these two can ever ever get back together. We'll see.
To be entered in the giveaway, just tell me what you think of my list in comments. Or the song. And if you can think of other couples you'd add, let me know that too. I review YA, but you can offer up any fictional couple with issues.
What do you win? Your choice from a fabulous selection of seven December and January YA ARCs and finished copies. If winner is international and it will cost over $10 to ship to their address, they can pick any book up to $10 from TBD. US winner can choose this option too. Accepting comments until 9 am EST Monday, January 21!
I really hope Aria and Perry, and Logan and Gwen do get back together...I love them!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
Delete1
Fantastic blog post! I just wish I'd read more of these books! Plus, Karou and Akiva are TOTALLY getting back together!!
ReplyDeleteI hope they are!!
Delete2
Have you read Days of Blood and Starlight, the sequel to Daughter of Smoke and Bone? I definitely agree that there is not much hope for them getting back together, and the sequel makes it even more complicated, but it also gave me hope that there could be some redemption in the end.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I really love Aria and Perry (though I haven't read Through the Ever Night yet) and I hope they can find a way to make it!
Yep, that's why they're on the list. But there is always hope!
Delete3
I love that song! *singing it*
ReplyDeleteLiked your couples, but I would love if Cassel and Lila got together. Oh, and I haven't read Romeo Immortal yet, but I was sure they were getting back together! I still hope so, otherwise the book won't be as good =/
I have not read Black Heart yet, so don't tell me if Cassel and Lila get together!
Delete4
Totally agree with Anna Dressed in Blood and Wither. Those are some series obstacles to overcome. Killer ghost and psycho FIL plus multiple other wives, oh and imminent death...that's if she can get past loving someone else. Can't wait to see how that one ends!
ReplyDeleteHaven't read these others to put in a vote...have a few of them on my shelf to read...soon, very soon!
Well, the obstacles are what make it suspenseful :)
Delete5
I want Karou and Akiva to be together- mainly because I love them so much, but i suspect you're right :/
ReplyDeleteNo, let's have hope!
Delete6
Now I want to pull Under the Never Sky off my TBR shelf & read it right now!
ReplyDeleteAs for the Eliza & Cooper, I totally agree! Talk about a horrible start to a relationship!
And Romeo & Juliet... who'd have thought that wouldn't work out? ; )
Thanks for the list & giveaway!
Yes -- read Under the Never Sky if you haven't!
Delete7
I want Aria and Perry to get back together, those two really have to, if not I'll never ever touch Under the Never sky again!!! Why can't we just have a Katniss and Peeta relationship?
ReplyDeleteWell, there's one more book. We still have hope :)
Delete8
You are so clever! I love this list! I love the song (and the whole album). Marcus and Jessica could go on this list. Ohhhhhhh could they go on this list. I wish our love was right... WHAT? Maybe there's one more post card Jessica.
ReplyDeleteEmailed you because I am doing a re-read of Jessica Darling this summer! I never finished the series! If anyone wants to join in, let me know!
Delete9
Thanks for getting that song stuck in my head. Now I'll be singing it all day...and my sis will be ready to throttle me. :P Love your list...some I know and some I don't, but I can't believe you almost went there with The Darkest Minds. That ending was heart-breaking! I think you really need to add June and Day from Prodigy to that list. They, too, have an uphill battle. :)
ReplyDeleteWendy Darling and I were chatting about this...how young love does not equate to forever love or even long-term love. It would be nice if more authors made the love stories more realistic, where the love matures and maybe the characters outgrow it, but it doesn't define them.
Great post! But I'm still singing that song...
Sorry about driving your sister crazy ... not!
DeleteI am about to read Prodigy so I need to remember June and Day and all their problems!
10
Alex and Lena are meant to be in Delirium! They face a lot of obstacles but I love them together! I refuse to say anything else about them because I don't want to spoil Requiem. ;) Aria And Perry must stay together too, that's a must. Love them so much. This is a fun topic, by the way! Okay, Clara and Tucker? I don't know, I don't know... I love them together and want them back together in Boundless (4 days!), even though I like Christian too. I think I could go on and on... hehe
ReplyDeleteI almost put Alex and Lena on my list, but there were spoilers. Yes, I have hope for them. I have Requiem but haven't read it yet!
Delete11
I haven't read ANY of the books you mentioned! :( but that song, *Cringes* so catchy and annoying LOL.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway, fingers crossed :)
Thanks for stopping by!
Delete12
Great topic, Jen! I just finished Days of Blood & Starlight and I have to agree that Karou and Akiva are the perfect couple for this list! And Rhine and Linden, too.
ReplyDeleteBTW, this is my 3yo son's favorite song. He walks around going, "We-e never ever ever! Like, ever." It's very cute!
Aw, that is so cute. I wish I could hear him!
Delete13
Lol!! I love this post. I also kind of want to kill you for getting this song stuck in my head. I can't stand this song!! I can't really think of any couples right now. I am brain dead from my cold.
ReplyDeleteYeah, sorry about that. I'm getting a few complaints. Okay, a lot....
Delete14
I love this list! I love that you come up with these awesome topics too. I completely agree with you on Cas and Anna and Cassel and Lila. And of course Perry and Aria and Roar and Liv. But I think they're totally going to make it, obstacles be damned. They have to, otherwise I will be incredibly sad.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of any couples to add to the list (I'm sure they'll pop in my head in the middle of the night).
I'm always the optimist!
Delete15
Great Post! Some of these books I've read and some I haven't. But I totally agree with you on Anna and Cas and Logan and Gwen! I haven't read the next book in the series to these yet but I need to! =) Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletePoor Anna and Cas. They definitely have issues.
Delete16
Your#1 is definietly my number one. I was shocked when I found out what Akiva did. I think anyone can get back together, but what he did was realy really bad....I think I need to go and read book#2!
ReplyDeleteYES -- you must read book two!!
Delete17
Ok it is a little sad that I haven't read any of the books that you mentioned. and I can't think of any other characters that are never getting back together......well at this moment. LOL Oh and I love that song. Going to listen now. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway, YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's oksy. Glad you enjoyed the song!
Delete18
I love Taylor Swift :) right now I really love I Knew You Were Trouble.
ReplyDeleteu forgot Rose and Adrian lol
Well, ha ha -- we know that they aren't getting together. Unless there's a BIG surprise in Indigo Spell.
Delete19
Oooh I so want Rhine and Linden to be together--at least a week! They were so cute together in Wither!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that I'm not the only one who likes them together!
Delete20
Ah Taylor Swift's song is so catchy! I heard it on the radio a few days ago now whenever people mention this song it stays in my head for the rest of the day...
ReplyDeleteJen
I was in the Verizon wireless store and they played it twice. I could not get it out of my head.
Delete21
From the list I've only read Juliet Immortal and I totally agree with you also that is was a totally bizarre couple! I love Taylor Swift! :D Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteLove that series!
Delete22
I cant stand that song! >:(
ReplyDeleteI really like ur list! The only thing I would change is to add Rose and Demitre from Vampire Academy! I seriously havent read the last books souly bc I didnt want to see them not be together! :( It really broke my heart that they saved him in next to last book and yet he doesnt want to be with Rose. T_T
Sayomay
Aw.... you should finish that series. Really!!
Delete23
I've read Everneath but have yet to read Everbound and I must say, as much as it seems set up for Nikki to go and save Jack and ooh, love forever and whatnot... I don't think it's that easy. While I don't know if I want her with Cole, I don't know if she and Jack can really ever (ever, ever) get back together.
ReplyDeleteGreat topic, by the way! And now that song will be stick in my head all day :P
I'm about to read Everbound. So excited!!
Delete24
PS Sorry about the song!
I have to agree on Linden & Rhine. I am getting ready to read Sever in the next few days. I don't see her and Linden ending up back together either. I am currently reading Days of Blood and Starlight. I still have hopes for Karou & Akiva. I also have hope for Warren & Juliette Too from Shatter Me, but I am not sure how that will work out. After reading Destroy Me though... It makes wonder??? I haven't read any of the other books yet. They're on that growing list of TBR. I am hoping to knock it down but when I come across a book that I have a hard time getting through and I am not even half way through yet... It gets hard to stay caught up.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think that song is PERFECT! I love the song, Even my husband loves it. lol
Glad you like the song. Yeah, Warren and Juliette don't seem likely to me, but I have not read Unravel Me.
Delete25
The song is my least favorite Taylor Swift song...but it does get stuck in your head!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Cas and Anna, and Roar and Liv and Perry and Aria. Could there by any more obstacles between them? I haven't read Girl of Nightmares yet, but I can't wait!
Wither--I know the Linden and Rhine can't end up together. But I'm guessing his love for her might save Rhine from his evil father, so the relationship could be important!
Ooh, good point. I like Linden. Gabriel is okay, but I'm not crazy about him.
Delete26
I really want Logan and Gwen to get back together, they're so different personality wise but I love them as a couple!!
ReplyDeleteCouples I would add are Helen/Lucas from Starcrossed and Violet/Lincoln from The Violet Eden Chapters. Those are the only couples I can think of at the moment.
Great topic!
Yay --- great suggestions. Love the Starcrossed series. And I have only read the first Violet Eden book, but I am definitely Team Lincoln. Phoenix is a creeper.
Delete27
I really hope Karou and Akiva get back together!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
Delete28
Bella and Jacob are only others I can think of.
ReplyDeleteOh, good one!
Delete29
Everbound was awesome.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read it!
Delete30
Love your list, although I still haven't read most of these. Seriously, I need to stop time for everyone else and just read for a few months to get caught up. Hate the song though, not a Taylor Swift fan, and it is constantly getting stuck in my head (like right now lol).
ReplyDeleteIt's a very catchy song!
Delete31
Agree on: Rhine and Linden, Colby and Bev (he's too good for her), and Cas and Anna (She's DEAD- it's a problem). Of course I could be wrong since I haven't finished the Chemical Garden series or read Girl of Nightmares.
ReplyDeleteVehemently disagree on: Cassel and Lila (because they are so perfect for each other) AND Akiva and Karou (because, HOLY CRAP, I will LOSE IT if they can't work it all out!)
Great list and fun topic!:)
"She's DEAD -- it's a problem." Ha ha . Yeah. That's a bit of a problem.
DeleteCassel and Lila -- don't tell me how it ends! Have to read the last book!
32
Thought you finished Black Heart! No worries I didn't spoil anything:)
DeleteThis song is kinda of too cheerful for what she is saying. I would expect something a bit more angry. Just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good point!
Delete33
I had to giggle when I first opened this email! What a great title for Friday! Love the list BUT I have to agree with a lot of others... I really hope Karou and Akiva do get back together!
ReplyDeleteGlad I made you laugh :)
Delete34
Yes I see why you put Nikki and Jack on there...but HAVE YOU READ THE END OF EVERNEATH?! !@(@#$@*^!!*@#&!!! And Everbound is insanely GORGEOUS!!!!! Ah. They are TOTALLY getting back together. FOREVER. :D Ah. Haha. I agree about Rhine and Linder though. Just eeew. Great list!!! I haven't read Daughter of Smoke and Bone yet. Maybe I Should. :D
ReplyDeleteYep, that's why I put them on the list. That ending is a bit of a problem!!!
Delete35
Some of these couples I haven't heard about but some I have and I hope they do get back together. Even if just because they have great adventures together and more books are needed...the good thing about paranormals is that love even with death is possible!
ReplyDeleteThat is a good point about paranormals!
Delete36
Never, ever, ever... getting this song out of my head!
ReplyDeleteHave to confess that I've only read 2 of the books on your list! And I have only read the first books too, not the sequels, so I'm not really qualified to comment on them!
Hmm, couples who are never getting back together? Maybe Shawn and Ronnie from Knee Deep by Jolene Perry - because he domestically abuses her - if that's not a good reason to never get back together, I don't know what is!
Well, yes. There are some couples who should stay apart!
Delete37
I don't agree on everything. Nikki and Jack WILL get back together. Love conquers all!! And Perry and Aria will be together. Not sure about the others, but still. Nikki and Jack are perfect. Screw Cole.
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha ha -- funny!
Delete38
I was thinking Katniss & Gale are never, ever getting back together. & even Percy Jackson & that Rachel Elizabeth Dare girl (were they ever together-together?) I've only read the first book in the Mortal Instruments (City of Bones) but from the way it ended I don't think Jace & Clary will be getting back to together (talk about awkward).
ReplyDeleteWell, I agree on Katniss and Gale!
Delete39
Karou and Akiva not together just breaks my heart!
ReplyDeleteLinden & Rhine shouldn't be together anyway :)
It's not Linden's fault that his father is a psycho!
Delete40
Nikki and Jack HAVE to get back together!! Oh how I need to read Everbound! As much as I thought Cole was hot in Everneath, Nikki doesn't belong with him.
ReplyDeleteI agree!!
Delete41
LOVE this list - and yeah, that is one addictive song:))
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with Aria and Perry, Karou and Akiva, Rhine and Linden (I kinda had a thing for Linden regardless. I know, weird because he's so out of it, but I think if he were to open his eyes he'd fight for the girl he loved:)
I'd also put Tod and Kaylee from Rachel Vincent's Soul Screamers on the list. He's always complaining about her, she thinks he's sneaky and mischievous. But oh my GOD!! Once they got together it was heaven:))
LOL -- so funny to find all my fellow Linden fans!
DeleteI have only read one Soul Screamers book -- need to get going on those!
42
OH! I don't think I've ever thought about this before, so FANTASTIC post. Definitely agree about Eliza and Cooper - and then there was the part where he was dating her for an initiation or something in the beginning...
ReplyDeleteI can't think of any to add to the list, but I'll definitely be thinking about it from now on.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Delete43
I have faith in Akiva and Karou. I had to jump quickly over Perry and Aria, b/c I think I saw a spoiler!
ReplyDeleteFun list!
Yikes -- I didn't think I had any spoilers in there. Going to go check.
Delete45
Okay, I edited it. I didn't think it was spoilery, but JIC I took out some stuff.
DeleteAria and Perry have to get back together.
ReplyDeleteI hope so!
Delete46
Well I certainly hope that some of these people get back together. And I know for a fact that several do. WHEW. But your right, authors like to throw in huge obstacles to love. I am now singing that song in my head.
ReplyDeleteDon't tell me!!
Delete47
Song's ok, but maybe it's time for Taylor to sing about something other than her breakups. Plus, mayhap the lady doth protest too much.
ReplyDeleteOh, and Akiva and Karou are SO getting back together. They're made for each other. Soulmates, I tell you. That feeling is even stronger after DoB&S (a truly beautiful book, if someone hasn't read it yet).
Good point on Taylor. I agree with Tina Fey that she needs some "me-time."
DeleteI love Karou and Akiva together so I hope they work it out!
48
EVERY TIME I hear this song, I have it stuck in my head for the rest of the day. It's so fun! I just finished Daughter of Smoke and Bone. It's not looking good for Akiva and Karou, but I haven't read Days of Blood and Starlight yet. What a fun Freebie Friday topic!
ReplyDeleteRead Days of Blood and Starlight ASAP!!
Delete49
Uh-oh... Now I cant think because that song is stuck in my head!!
ReplyDeleteHaha...how do you come up with such fun ideas?! :)
Actually I have read only one of the books mentioned above..Wither and I SO agree with you but I so wish they would get back together!
Thanks -- that is so sweet. I'm shocked to find so many people who like Linden. I thought everyone was going to laugh at me!
Delete50
You might not believe me but I haven't read any book in your list. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in getting Anna Dressed in Blood, Curseworkers, and Daughter of Smoke & Bone.
Well, I hope I inspired you to read some of them :)
Delete51
That's a really amazing list! I agree with your number one as well as the curse workers series! I think Lola and Max from LOLA AND THE BOY NEXT DOOR and be added too!
ReplyDeleteAs for the song...it was catchy the first time I heard it but 1000 times later you're just like "no. stop." And you can't help but pity all the men who are shamed by Taylor's coping mechanism of writing songs about all the guys she's dated. haha
Thank you for the opportunity to win!
reflectionsbylili@gmail.com
Yeah, I could not wait for Lola to ditch Max!!
Delete52
This song is amazing. I read just Daughter of smoke and bone from your list, and I believe that Akiva and Karou.
ReplyDeleteI hope they get together!!
Delete53
i love how you did your list and i get the idea even if i haven't read any of those books^^::
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
Delete54
This list is great.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading Under the Never Sky(page 262 PB) and I am in love with Perry. I also like Linden. And Warner from Shatter Me. And Ren from Nightshade. *sigh* I always go for the underdog.
Me too -- go underdogs!!!
Delete55
How have not read any of the books on this weeks list?
ReplyDeleteThe song's ok. Kinda annoying after awhile.
Another couple that could be added to your list, Saf and Bitterblue from Kristin Cashore's Bitterblue
I haven't read that one!
Delete56
This list makes me sad. So many good couples with amazing chemistry like Anna and Cas, Gwen and Logan, and Aria and Perry. I really liked Romeo and Juliet (well maybe just Romeo) and Rhine and Linden pairs. But, yes, you're right, they can't be together.
ReplyDeleteI know this isn't really a couple that will "never" be back together, but Will and Jem's from The Infernal Devices bromance totally deserves some recognition!
Great list! But some of the I havent read yet...
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Delete57
What about Allie and Zeke from the Immortal rules? She became a vampire and he grew up in a group of people who fear vampires. At the end of the book she had to leave him, because she must find her maker.. (not that I mind it very much, because her maker is also a great character :p)
ReplyDeleteJust in case THERE IS A SLIGHT SPOILER about the Immortal rules in my reaction :)
DeleteGreat idea!!
Delete58
Oh no your post just scared the heck out of me because I haven't read most of those! Like Everneath! I might cry and I haven't even started it! As well as Duaghter of Smoke and Bone. But they probably will work it out. Rhine and Linden are definitely not getting back together or I will burn the book. Gross! They were never really together at least not by choice for Rhine. LOL Like Arianne said Rose and Adrian won't be getting back together. Alex and Seth from Covenant won't get getting back together. I kind of hope Allie and Zeke can get back together but it's not looking good :-(
ReplyDeleteMost of those series haven't ended, so there is still hope!!! These are just my guesses.
DeleteLOL I guess you are not on Team Linden with me.
59
AGREED FOR ALL OF THEM!!! Cole and Nikki though...I think Jack and Nikki are the better couple. ;P And heheheheh...I'm guessing you haven't read THROUGH THE EVER NIGHT...;D
ReplyDeleteBoo Cole.
DeleteYes, I've read TTEN. But I think that what you might be talking about is NOT TRUE. Just misdirection.
60
I haven't read all of these books, but the ones I did read (Everbound, Wither, Under the Never Sky, and Daughter Smoke and Bone). I completely agree! Daughter of Smoke and Bone is such a difficult one for me, though. I absolutely adore Akiva, but I also absolutely adore Ziri. She and Akiva will be together, though. Fine, whatever. I'll just take Ziri.
ReplyDeleteI think Ziri will get his own girl. But we will see!!
Delete61
Ooh, interesting choice!
ReplyDelete44
I love the idea of this post! I also feel like Rhine/Linden and Karou/Akiva are both couples that are never ever getting back together. After reading Prodigy I also feel like June/Day might be eligible for that list there is just such an uphill battle there.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I'm very excited to read Prodigy!
Delete62
I read the title of your post in my email and that song just popped in my head. I didn't even know you inserted it until I got to your site. It's one of those songs I never listen to because it just gets stuck in your head, so thanks for that! ;) Such a fun post! Still haven't read a lot of these, but enjoyed going through them anyway. I will weigh in on Smoke and Bone, Under the Never Sky, and Darkest Minds and say that these couple will work it out. I will be so devistated if they don't!!! Have a fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteYeah, everyone is yelling at me for getting the song in their head :)
DeleteI agree with you on all those three couples. We must have hope!
63
I haven't read many of these books (though they're all on my list!), but ones I hope you're wrong about are Aria and Perry, Roar and Liv, and Karou and Akiva.
ReplyDeleteI'd add Janelle and Ben from Unraveling (at the end of the book, their getting back together seems pretty dang impossible, though we know it's going to happen), Will and Tessa in Clockwork Prince (this one I'm really not sure either way, but I'm hoping I'm wrong!), Lena and Alex in Pandemonium (seriously.), and also Evie and Sam in The Diviners (though they never technically were "together" to begin with, there had been a possibility).
These are great suggestions!! I loved Unraveling. Haven't read Clockwork Prince yet but I know that love triangle will kill me. Yeah, Lena and Alex -- not looking good there. And I love Sam in The Diviners! Rooting for him!!
Delete64
Seriously, the love triangle only gets worse/more heartbreaking in Clockwork Prince...dying to read Clockwork Princess! And I'm so glad someone else is rooting for Sam; I felt like the only one who liked him over Jericho! Haha
DeleteLove this post because it's connecting me with other people rooting for the underdogs!
DeleteTeam Sam!
Of the books on your list, I'm pretty sure Jack and Nikki will get back together in the third book after a messy middle book. As for the Wither trilogy, I hope she doesn't end up with Linden. She belongs with Gabriel if the author would stop throwing traumatic experiences to separate them.
ReplyDeleteI hope so!! Love Jack. And I've read Sever ... but no comment.
Delete65
I've only read the first book but I sure hope Nikki and Jack get back together-they were one of my favorite couples of 2012 and I can't wait to read more about them!
ReplyDeleteAlso love that you brought up Taylor because I'm a huge fan!
Well, I just read Everbound and ... I can't say anything. It didn't look good for them at the end of book one, though, did it?
Delete66
What a great list!!! Rhine and Linden are some of my favorites :)
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious that so many people are with me on Rhine and Linden. I had no idea!
Delete67
I love that song and I love your list! I have yet to read any of those books, but I just got my hands on Wither and cannot wait to dive in!
ReplyDeleteLoved Wither -- enjoy it!
Delete68
Love this list. My favorites are probably Romeo and Juliet and Rhine and Linden :)
ReplyDeleteYay -- another fan of Linden :)
Delete69
Great list! I have to admit that the only book I've read out of them is Under the Never Sky. (The rest are on my TBR though!) Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWell, then, you've got to read Through the Ever Night!!!
Delete70
Ha, awesome theme this week! :) Personally, I don't like the tune of this song very much. I admit it's catchy, but I don't know, I find her voice kinda annoying in this one. (Though I used to love Taylor Swift around 4 years ago... But yeah, that love faded once I started listening to rock songs. XD)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm happy to say that Cassel and Lila do end up together! I don't know if you've read the entire series, but if you haven't yet, do read it! :) And I used to think of the same with Nikki and Jack, but after Jack's sacrifice at the end, who knows? And Anna and Cas- I actually do want them to end up together, but you're right about the many obstacles between them... But yes, the chemistry is fantastic! :) It's actually Rhine and Linden I don't want to end up together. I mean, I don't really like Gabriel either, so we'll just see with Sever.
I thought the ending of Sever was true to the story and the characters. Beyond that, my lips are sealed!
Delete71
My heart dropped for a moment because I thought thought the list you posted were confirmed permanently broken up couples. ;__;
ReplyDeleteI'm usually cheering for 'the other guy' (Puck, Jacob, Adrian back in VA...) so I'm used to them never getting back together. Karou and Akiva are on the top of my list! With the new characters introduced in Days of Blood I am extremely curious how the story will play out.
SORRY! I don't believe the girl in the song (though Taylor doesn't seem to get back with old boyfriends) so I just meant YA couples who seem to be broken up. For now. Who knows? Sorry if I scared you.
DeleteAlso dying for book three in the Smoke and Bone series!
72
What a wonderful list. I definitely need to read The Disenchantments.
ReplyDeleteI really liked that one. Road trip, Northeast setting, post high school, girl band -- what's not to love?
Delete73
Gah! Don't even remind about Logan! <3 him!
ReplyDeleteWhen I read the title of this post I immediately thought about Nash and Kaylee from the Soul Screamers. They are definitely NEVER getting back together! Also, I am now Team Tod, so I dont mind ;)
Poor Logan!
DeleteYeah, Nash and Kaylee seem to have a lot of votes!

I've been having a Last Song Syndrome with this song for the past few weeks. The only books I've read on the list are Anna Dressed in Blood and Daughter of Smoke and Bone but some of the books listed are on my TBR pile. Anyways, I completely agree with you regarding Anna and Cas (Anna Dressed in Blood) since it really is impossible for them to be together again because obviously, Anna's on the other side of the world (if you know what I mean}. Though it's quite heartbreaking to know that they won't be together since they really have a chemistry together. :)
ReplyDeletePoor Anna and Cas!!

This is a great list... I just added a whole bunch more books to my TBR list! I read Daughter of Smoke and bone and I just got the second in the seires.... so we'll see what happens. And I just got Anna Dressed in Blood which I've been wanting to read! As for the ohers I haven't read them yet but I can't wait to they all sound so good. Although I head Juliet immortal wasn't that great of a book! But about the song! I love that song.. I love Taylor Swift! She's one of my favorites! And that song is so catchy that it just gets stuck in my head all day! Great list though I really enjoyed reading this post!
ReplyDeleteAnna Dressed in Blood is SO good!! And so is Days of Blood and Starlight -- enjoy!

I really like Rhine and Linden together. At first I thought he was the bad guy, I'm glad he's not and those two have some great chemistry.
ReplyDeleteYay -- more fans. We need a club!

Some couples are just not meant to be & others I want to just slap some sense into them.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. And some need to be together AND need to be slapped to see that ;)

Love the list, though hopefully most (if not all) do get back together. (Esp Anna and Cas-I have yet to read GofN) Love the song as well, it's so catchy. I use it as a shelf on goodreads for the series I've dropped :P
ReplyDeleteHa ha -- you mean that you and the book are never ever getting back together??
Delete79
No way! I'm never... ever....never ever watching that video. That song has been stuck in my head for months!
ReplyDeleteDo not say that about Karou and Akiva!!! They MUST get together.
Anna and Cas make me sad too.
I have hope for Karou and Akiva. But they have the most to overcome IMO.

I love the list! I am amazed by how many of these books I haven't read! I really need to get on it. Also, I have never heard that song but I have heard about it. Props to Taylor Swift, she has really cornered the market...
ReplyDeleteI recommend them all!

The song is definitely catchy!I haven't read most of the books but I definitely agree with #5.
ReplyDeleteKarou and Akiva from the Daughter of Smoke and Bone sound very Romeo & Juliet-ish!
Yes -- in book two they make direct R and J comparisons!

I don't like the song very much but I did love the list of books, many of them I have added to my to read list :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you found some new books!

love this song (actually love all Taylor's song :)) and what a great YA list

Thanks for numbering yourself. It's still early here and sometimes I get confused!
ReplyDeleteGlad you stopped by :)
Sadly I've only read Daughter of Smoke and Bone from your list thus far! But I loooove Daughter of Smoke and Bone. :) I hope Karou and Akiva both find happiness eventually, even if it's not with each other. I love them BOTH as characters, so much!
ReplyDeleteOops ~ 85!

I hope so too!!! I can't wait to see how ti all turns out.
DeleteI completely agree with you for the Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I hope they can get together but, it seems unlikely. Sadly a lot of the other books are still hanging out on my TBR list. It seems to never get smaller that list. Here is the number thing: 86
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling!
DeleteMy favorite couple that you mentioned is Cas and Anna. They could never get back together. I love both books.
ReplyDelete86
Me too! And actually, you are number 87!
DeletePractically all of those books are on my TBR list--and some are in my box of books that I am pledging to make a dent in this year. :) But since I tend to go for a happy ending I am having a very hard time coming up with an answer to this one. But I do love that song--and will admit that I sing along to it loudly every time it comes on my car's radio. :)
