Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

 I really want to read:

This Song Will Save Your Life
by Leila Sales
To be published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux
on September 17, 2013

Blurb (from Goodreads:) Making friends has never been Elise Dembowski’s strong suit. All throughout her life, she’s been the butt of every joke and the outsider in every conversation. When a final attempt at popularity fails, Elise nearly gives up. Then she stumbles upon a warehouse party where she meets Vicky, a girl in a band who accepts her; Char, a cute, yet mysterious disc jockey; Pippa, a carefree spirit from England; and most importantly, a love for DJing.

Why do I want to read this?

1) I really enjoyed both of this author's prior books, Mostly Good Girls and Past Perfect.

2) The song has a playlist, and I love playlists.

3) I attended a panel in the fall called "The Making of a YA Bestseller" and one of the panelists (an FSG Editorial Director) used this book as an example of a powerful title -- I agree! Apparently (and my notes are all scribbly, so I hope I'm reading this right) the book's original title was "Last of the International Party Girls" and then "My Suicide Playlist." But everyone involved with the book kept feeling like the title wasn't quite right. So they came up with a huge list of possible new titles and this one won out. Nice choice! And I love the cover too.

  1. I love music and playlists so this is being added to my TBR list. I do like My Suicide Playlist as a title too but that is kind of a downer lol

  5. I've liked both of the author's previous books so I expect I will give this one a try too.

Thanks to Eliza Tilton, I also really liked how LOVE was highlighted-it wasn't something I had noticed upon first glance.

  6. The cover looks like a word finder game. I really like how the red pops, but I had a hard time reading the title at first. And the blurb is pretty vague, but I like the sounds of her finding something to be passionate about!
