Waiting On Wednesday: BEA Edition Part I

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

I'm very excited that I'll be attending BEA again this year. It's a huge publishing industry show that features lots of new books, author signings, and other exciting events.

BEA is in late May, so I thought for the next few Wednesdays I'll highlight some of the books that maybe, just maybe I'll be able to bring home with me. This week's feature:

Rose Under Fire
by Elizabeth Wein
To be published by Disney-Hyperion
on September 10, 2013

I loved Code Name Verity, so I'm very excited to see that Elizabeth Wein will be signing her new book at BEA.  Here's the blurb:

While flying an Allied fighter plane from Paris to England, American ATA pilot and amateur poet Rose Justice is captured by the Nazis and sent to Ravensbrück, the notorious women's concentration camp. Trapped in horrific circumstances, Rose finds hope in the impossible through the loyalty, bravery and friendship of her fellow prisoners. But will that be enough to endure the fate that’s in store for her?

Let me know in comments about a book you can't wait to read, or leave me a link to your WoW!

  1. Oh, I want that! CNV was my fave book of 2012 and both my friend (who I introduced to CNV) and I are dying for this companion. I hope it can live up to all our expectations!

  2. I wish I could go to BEA with you!! I live on the wrong side of NY. So close, yet so far away. :( If I remember from last year, there were a lot of books I hadn't previously heard of so I look forward to expanding my already huge TBR. lol

  4. Why do I have to live so far away??? I want to go to BEA! ;) I didn't read Code Name Verity. I thought about it, but even though I love (learning about) that time period, I just didn't think the book would be a good fit for me. But I know so many who loved it. Hope this one is just as good and that you get your hands on a copy! I have a feeling your WoW luck is about to return. :)

  5. Is this a companion novel to CNV? I still need to read that one. *stares at it on shelf*

I did make sure everyone else read it though lol

I can't wait to catch up with you at BEA this year. Hopefully I'll see you a little more than at 7am while waiting in line to get in.

  8. Oh, crap. You know I LOVED Code Name Verity, though it put me through the emotional wringer, but Nazi prison camp stories are HARD for me. I think I may let you vet this one before I read, Jen:) But it's a mighty cool pick! Wasn't aware that Wein had another book coming out:)

    1. Thanks. For BEA you have to have a plan and then just go with the flow. So if I don't get this, I'll still get a lot of other good stuff.

  11. I've been seeing all of these BEA posts and I'm starting to get nervous about all the planning I need to do! Both book research and also general exhibition layout and even packing. AHHHHH. We need to have a long very detailed chat! Spare nothing. BUT I will be fighting you for a copy of this book. HAHA. But really, I am desperate for this one. Hear there will be further info on Maddy and Jamie too.

  17. I want to go to BEA so bad one of these days! I didn't really have enough time to plan and save up this year like I wanted. I looked into hotels and pricings but just didn't have enough time to get caught up on bills and things. Maybe next year. I never read Code Name Verity. Not sure it would be for me since I'm not much of a historical reader. But this sounds pretty intense.
