Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
I'm not such a huge fan of werewolf stories. Ever since one of my favorite characters on Buffy the Vampire Slayer went werewolf, I realized that these kind of plots are usually not for me.
"Yeah, yeah, Dingoes Ate My Baby."
Did the name of his band foreshadow the terrible fate that would soon befall him?
Then I read Hemlock by Kathleen Peacock. You can read my review here. In Hemlock, I found a Veronica Mars-like vibe that I loved. Werewolves that I could (kind of) relate to.
So …. I'm waiting for:
Thornhill
by Kathleen Peacock
To be published by Katherine Tegen Books
on September 10, 2013
Here's the blurb:
Mac can’t lose another friend. Even if he doesn’t want to be found.
The ripple effect caused by Mac’s best friend Amy’s murder has driven Mac’s new love, Kyle, to leave Hemlock and disappear from her life forever. But Mac knows that Kyle plans to enroll in a rehabilitation camp, where he can live with other werewolves. She refuses to accept his decision, especially since the camps are rumored to be tortuous. So she sets out in search of Kyle with a barely sober Jason—and Amy’s all-seeing ghost—in tow.
Clues lead Mac to find Kyle in a werewolf den in Colorado—but their reunion is cut short by a Tracker raid. Now Mac and Kyle are trapped inside the electric fences of Thornhill, a camp for young werewolves. As she devises an escape plan, Mac uncovers dangerous secrets buried within the walls of Thornhill—and realizes that the risk to the people she loves is greater than ever before.
Tell me how you feel about werewolves and/or link me up to your WoW below :)
I'm excited about this one, too...even used it on a WoW a couple of weeks ago. :) And I hated when Oz went werewolf!
ReplyDeleteI read the first book and I remember liking it but, for some reason I haven't fallen in love with any of the werewolf books I have read. but, I still wanna check this one out and see if i enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteKristin @ Young Adult Book Haven
I don't read too many werewolf books but this is one series I've been really wanting to start. :)
ReplyDeleteMy W.O.W.
I'm not a big fan of werewolves either but I did like the first book except for the love triangle stuff. If there's less of that, then I could be on board with this sequel.
ReplyDeleteWerewolves. You know, I like them okay. Maybe not as much as vampires, but more than zombie's ;) It's been a while since I read Hemlock but I do remember wanting to read more after I finished (and needing to know where Kyle went!)

I totally hate werewolves! I just do but I think I'll give them a try. Kathleen may be the one to convince me too that werewolves are awesome! Thanks for sharing this, Jen! :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't started this series yet, but know I should.
ReplyDeleteHope you get to read it soon!

That was actually going to be my WOW next week. :) I loved Hemlock! I thought it was done fairly well. I can't wait to read the next one too! Thanks for stopping by my WOW too!

I haven't read Hemlock, but I look forward to reading it. And yeah, I wasn't fond of Oz turning all wolfie either. :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
haha I didn't mind Oz becoming a werewolf although the special effects of him in wolf form were super cheesy since it was just a guy in a wolf suit. I loved Shiver and I love the Mercy Thompson series. I like a lot of werewolf books and heard great things about Hemlock. Love mysteries too so I hope to try it one day.
ReplyDeleteMy WOW
I really want to read Hemlock, but I haven't seen it on audible yet. And I heart werewolves. I was thinking of writing a werewolf story. You... probably wouldn't like my werewolves too much, maybe. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm also SO excited to read this one! Oh my gosh, you're making me want to go rewatch Buffy now (I need very little encouragement to launch into a marathon re-watch).
ReplyDelete*slams face on desk* I still need to read Hemlock its been in my tbr pile forEVER!!!! My WoW
ReplyDeleteI GOT THAT BOOK ON MONDAY!!! Kathleen sent it to me. I can't wait to dig in! :D
ReplyDeleteCheck out my WoW post!
See, I like TV werewolves, but their bookish counterparts just haven't been doing it for me lately... Special mention for Luke of the Mortal Instruments, though. He's an excellent guy and his wolfy story is definitely a cool one.

Oh, Oz! One of the only werewolves I've ever been able to stand. I just don't like werewolves or some strange reason. Not sure why. This book does sound pretty good though!
ReplyDeleteJesse @ Pretty In Fiction
Re-watching VMars with some friends this week. Did you hear they are making a movie? Haven't read Hemlock yet, though it is on my shelf. Now I really want to!
ReplyDelete~Sabrina@iheart y.a.fiction
I haven't read this series yet but it's one of those that I've heard a lot about. Also Vernoica Mars is popping up everywhere lately, lol. I like werewolves but I don't go out of my way to read or watch anything about them.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I really liked Hemlock too even though werewolves aren't my favorite. I'm very excited for this one as well!
ReplyDeleteI loved Oz but I'm just not a big werewolf fan either. Now Veronica Mars? I own every season and have backed the new movie on Kickstarter. So, that being said, maybe I need to give this series a chance! Thanks for the rec!
ReplyDeleteI'm so pining for this book. I loved Hemlock!!!
ReplyDeleteThe first book was great! I've got this one pre-ordered! :-)
ReplyDeleteHave you ever read Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause? It is another werewolf story worth checking out.
ReplyDeleteCome see my WoW, if you have a moment. Happy Reading!
Dude! Me too! I totally loved the first book :)
