Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
I like to think there is a parallel universe in which I'm lying on a beach, reading a book, instead of kid and dog wrangling, trying to fend off clutter, and basically just trying to keep my head above water.
So I'm really enjoying all the YA books of late about parallel universes. I liked Pivot Point by Kasie West and Through to You by Emily Hainsworth. And, as Bookworm1858 pointed out in comments, I'm excited to read Parallel by Lauren Miller, which is on my kindle waiting for me.
Or maybe I'm reading it at the beach right now ;)
So in the spirit of the parallel universe, my WoW book for today is:
by Anna Jarzab
Expected publication date: October 8, 2013
by Delacorte BFYR
Summary from Goodreads: Sixteen-year-old Sasha Lawson has only ever known one small, ordinary life. When she was young, she loved her grandfather's stories of parallel worlds inhabited by girls who looked like her but led totally different lives. Sasha never believed such worlds were real--until now, when she finds herself thrust into one against her will. To prevent imminent war, Sasha must slip into the life of an alternate version of herself, a princess who has vanished on the eve of her arranged marriage. If Sasha succeeds in fooling everyone, she will be returned home; if she fails, she'll be trapped in another girl's life forever. As time runs out, Sasha finds herself torn between two worlds, two lives, and two young men vying for her love--one who knows her secret, and one who thinks she's someone she's not.
I've heard great things about The Opposite of Hallelujah, which is Anna Jarzab's second book, a contemporary YA. It's on my summer reading list, and then I'll be ready for this one!
I'm back from vacation and the laundry is done and I'm ready to check out your WoW or whatever post you have for me. So link me up below :)
I'm really into parallel universes and concepts similar right now. And this one is new to me! Added to my TBR, thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteMy W.O.W.
Me too -- such a fascinating concept. Someone who studied physics explained it all to me once...
DeleteI love parallel universes too (looking forward to Parallel by Lauren Miller) and am excited about this one as well. Not sure about the cover though. I like the bird and the colors but am not sold on the face.
ReplyDeleteYes -- I have that on my kindle, waiting to be read right now :)
DeleteThis is the second WoW I've seen today with the parallel reality theme. I love that, too! Tandem sounds great. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like an interesting choice - have to admit that I haven't read any of the "parallel" world books yet - I seem to have been reading a lot of the dystopian choices lately...lol
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
I am really loving the multiverse theme, too. I am ITCHING to get my hands on Unbreakable, and now you've gone and made me add yet another parallel universe book to my TBR. I might need a special shelf just for all of these. :)
ReplyDeleteSince I'd read Unraveling I actually started to like the parallel universe theme. I like the summary of Tandem even if it hints on having a love triangle in it.
ReplyDeleteAnd the cover is gorgeous!
Thank you for sharing!
I hadn't heard of this one before, but it sounds really good. I hope you get to read it soon so I can hear what you think.
ReplyDeleteMy WOW post
Ooo, Tandem! This one has been one for which I have been waiting! It sounds really good! :D
ReplyDeleteHere is my WoW post!
This does look like an awesome book. I own many of the books you mentioned in the intro, but I haven't gotten a chance to read any of them. So I don't have any opinion on books that deal with Parallel lives. I hope I get to read this one because it does sounds pretty awesome.

Okay I have this weird thing were I don't like parallel worlds. That is one plot element that always turns me off, but I am interested in what you think of it. Also is that a raven on the cover? Those are everywhere these days.
ReplyDeleteThis one sounds great! I've only read one book with a parallel type world and wasn't really impressed with the actual presentation of it so I'm looking for more. I'm loving the cover too!
ReplyDeleteI love that cover!! Sounds like a cool book too.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to read this book! I love the cover and parallel universes are some of my favorite concepts, so this is bound to be a hit with me. Great pick! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat pick! I had not heard of this book yet. I think my fave parallel universe book is the one that we both recently failed to nab the sequel to (don't want to spoil the plot here in the comments:)You know the one I am talking about....
ReplyDeleteHaha I like to think there are parallel worlds too. There does seem to be an influx of books with this subject lately. I'll have to keep an eye on this one.
ReplyDeleteI just commented on another blog about this one! I think it's going to be great!

I haven't been completely on the band wagon about the whole parallel universe thing, but then the books you've talked about and liked have really piqued my interest. I will just have to read them and see what I think. This one sounds great, btw. Oh, and thanks for stopping by my WOW for Across a Star-Swept Sea!

Ooh, it comes out around my birthday. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteI also really liked Pivot Point and Through to You, and am dying to get my hands on Tandem, it looks SO good! Also Parallel sounds fab too. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteI'm all in love with this one already too! Good one!
