Waiting on Wednesday: Dance of the Red Death

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

This week I am waiting on:

Dance of the Red Death
by Bethany Griffin
To be published by Greenwillow
on June 11, 2013

Araby’s world is in shambles—betrayal, death, disease, and evil forces surround her. She has no one to trust. But she finds herself and discovers that she will fight for the people she loves, and for her city. Her revenge will take place at the menacing masked ball, though it could destroy her and everyone she loves…or it could turn her into a hero. With a nod to Edgar Allan Poe, Bethany Griffin concludes her tragic and mysterious Red Death series with a heroine that young adult readers will never forget.

I'm a huge Poe fan and really enjoyed Masque of the Red Death's imaginative world building and creepy vibe. It's one part alt history, one part post-apocalyptic, and one part steampunk.

The release date on this book was pushed from May to June, so I feel like I've been waiting forever! I want to read about the masked ball!

Tell me what book you're waiting for, and leave me a link so I can visit you back!

  1. I still haven't read the first book in this series but I've heard nothing but amazing things about it. I hope you'll get to read it soon :)

  2. I read the first book but wasn't super thrilled with some of the events (especially the love triangle) so I'm probably not going to continue unless I hear some really good things about this sequel.

  14. I have got to read Masque of the Red Death! I've been meaning to for forever! I have this one on my tbr too. I'm hoping I'll get an early copy from NetGalley, but chances are probably slim. Either way I'll be reading both of them. My WOW is for Blackmoore, a historical romance that I know will be really good. :)

  15. The way you describe it makes it sound like just my type of book, but I never picked up the first one, because I had read a ton of mixed reviews.
