Extra! Extra! 50: I’m Back — Sort Of….

Extra! Extra! is my weekly post featuring any and all exciting blog news.

I’m linking up to Sunday Post hosted by the lovely Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

Last week I went on vacation. I had all my posts scheduled and had a great week off. Then I came back, and since then, I’ve been playing catch-up — 500 tons of laundry, sorting mail, and just generally finding the time to do all the things I would have been doing if I were home.
So … while I did manage to visit some blogs, respond to some comments and even read some books, I’m still feeling a little behind in the blogging department. I’m almost caught up, but thanks for your patience!

What’s New On the Blog?  New Books!

In the After by Demitri Lunetta (HarperTeen)  Releases June 2013
You might be thinking, “Hey, Jen, isn’t this book is way too scary for you?” But summer is coming and Teen Snark, a.k.a. my teen reviewing panel, will have some free time. Plus, maybe I’ll try it too. With the lights on.
The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson (Greenwillow) Releases August 2013
I can’t believe this amazing fantasy trilogy is wrapping up. If you haven’t read Girl of Fire and Thorns and Crown of Embers, you still have time to do that before this comes out!
Find Me by Romily Bernard (HarperTeen) Releases September 2013
My friend Steph from TheFakeSteph.Com pitched this too me as foster child plus hacker plus serial killer. Me: Huh? But it’s a mystery. It won the Golden Heart YA Romance award, so there’s romance. I think Steph is right: I’ve got to read this one.

Thank you Harper Teen for approving me for these on Edelweiss 🙂

The Lucy Variations by Sara Zarr  (Little, Brown BFYR) Releases May 2013

I love Sara Zarr’s books and am so excited to read this one!
The Originals by Cat Patrick  (Little, Brown BFYR) Releases May 2013
Triplet clones!  Hoping this one is sort of MILA 2.0 meets The Parent Trap..
Boy Nobody by Allen Zadoff (Little, Brown BFYR) Releases June 2013
Teen Snark and I have already read this and we have a lot of opinions!  Our back-and-forth on this is coming soon!
Thanks to Little, Brown for inviting me to read these on NetGalley!

  1. In the After and Find Me both sound like books I'll need to read! I'm behind in the Body Finder series and I still need to read I Hunt Killers. Always behind… I'm waiting very patiently for The Fifth Wave to arrive from the ARC tour. I'm really excited to read it. I hope you like it too! 🙂

  2. I was going through the BEA authors (from that list you sent me) and looking them up since unless it's an author I really know, I might miss it. And I came across Find Me, which sounds really good! Romily Bernard is going on my list, and Find Me will be a must get. 😉

  3. I haven't heard of a majority of those titles, but I'll check them out! Also now following you via bloglovin. I'm SO glad people finally start to use it more and more. *grin* Though it IS kinda awful that they don't really have many other options.. :/ In any case, I hope you'll have a great week! 🙂

  4. I must be a completely crazy reader, because of the three books I am WAY TOO excited for in this post, The Lucy Variations is number 2. And nothing like Find Me (tell me if I'll love it!) and Game, which I am planning to read to celebrate the end of this semester. 🙂

  5. Vacation can be so much work! Really excited about In The After. With work my reading has slowed down a bit lately but I'm hoping to get to that one soon. The Originals sounds awesome too!

  6. THOSE are the most shoplifted items in America?? Huh. Well, they ARE a little like crack (says the girl who is just a 'little' bit addicted to Diet Rock Star…) so I guess I get it;)

Yay, you got The Bitter Kingdom too (and Find Me!) Tell me when you are planning on starting it. I may have to start it sooner than later, I'm really anxious:)

And The Lucy variations looks great! I didn't see it on NG, must've taken it down already (boo, hiss!) Let me know how it turns out:)

  7. Ugh, I always hate doing all the laundry after vacation! I can't wait for you to team up with Teen Snark again. And I want to read The Bitter Kingdom right the eff now, but I'm making myself wait. Not sure how much longer I can hold out, though. 😉
