Waiting on Wednesday: Dead Girls Don't Lie

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

As soon as I'm back from vacation, I want to to a trends post. But I'll say here that I'm beyond thrilled at all the new YA mysteries that are coming out in the fall of 2013!  Here's one I can't wait for -- I was very impressed by Breaking Beautiful, the debut book by Jennifer Shaw Wolfe.

I've been stalking NetGalley like a fiend….

Dead Girls Don't Lie
by Jennifer Shaw Wolf
To be published by Walker Children's Books
on September 17, 2013

Rachel died at two a.m . . . Three hours after Skyler kissed me for the first time. Forty-five minutes after she sent me her last text.  Jaycee and Rachel were best friends. But that was before. . .before that terrible night at the old house. Before Rachel shut Jaycee out. Before Jaycee chose Skyler over Rachel. Then Rachel is found dead. The police blame a growing gang problem in their small town, but Jaycee is sure it has to do with that night at the old house. Rachel’s text is the first clue—starting Jaycee on a search that leads to a shocking secret. Rachel’s death was no random crime, and Jaycee must figure out who to trust before she can expose the truth.

  3. Haven't read Breaking Beautiful but I'm pretty sure it's on my list after your recommendation. The summary for this one sounds kind of familiar; I think there's another book where something bad happens shortly after a girl chooses a boy over her best friend.

  15. Mysteries are a mixed bag for me. If it's too complicated I stop worrying about trying to figure it out but too simple and I'm bored. So picky! lol

  19. That about gives me chills just reading the blurb. I understand stocking NetGalley. ;) I missed a bunch on Edelweiss one week I wasn't checking and am trying to avoid that in the future. I hope you see it soon and get a copy.

  20. You should do a trends post when you come back from vacay! I'm curious about all the YA mysteries you've seen, 'cause I'm not sure I've seen a super increase in them (but I'm also terrible at noticing these things). I hope you'll find this one on NG and to your liking :).
