There are SO many books coming out in September that when my friend Tressa told me that she was hosting a read-a-thon, I was very excited. This is what I've read so far:
Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater
3:59 by Gretchen McNeil
The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas
Today, I have a fun challenge for Read-a-thon participants!
1. Choose art least one book in your TBR (or one you've already read for the read-a-thon.)
2. Choose some other kind of object you love -- shoes, teacups, cupcakes -- anything.
3. Find something in #2 that matches your book, either the cover or the content.
I got this amazing idea from Epic Reads. You can go here to see their book and tea pairings.
Here's my example. I'm about to start this book, Not a Drop To Drink by Mindy McGinnis
If this book were a pair of shoes, it would be:
If this book were makeup I think it would be like this (though I'm sure makeup would not be high on my priority list if I had not a drop to drink. At least those shoes are utilitarian :)

You get the idea. To participate in my challenge, just do your own pairing. You can post it on a blog, but if you don't have a blog, you can link to a Pinterest board, or also do the challenge in the comments below with links to your photos.
The winner (and I realize it's a little ironic to give books as a prize for a read-a-thon that aims to help you get your TBR pile down) can pick an ARC from my Giant Pile, which includes these.
You can only enter if you're a registered read-a-thon participant. Today is the last day you can sign up for the read-a-thon and you can do that here. a Rafflecopter giveaway
Oh my Jen you have me working and thinking very hard for Teardrop!! I love Lauren Kate :)
ReplyDeleteI loved your choices! Thanks for participating :)
DeleteThat's a cool idea! And I love your examples:)
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about your thoughts on Not a Drop to Drink. I want to read that one too:)
At first I thought it wasn't for me, but I keep reading amazing reviews...
DeleteI need to tackle my tbr pile. It's growing big!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to do this challenge, but I'm tackling my TBR every day, and signing up for this would have been that much more stress I don't need. :) Good luck with your goals, though! I'm reading Not a Drop to Drink right now, too.
ReplyDeleteThis was a really great idea and very fun! I'm not entering the giveaway, but I did the challenge anyway. Mine's up on Tumblr. Thanks so much for hosting the challenge, Jen!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is a tough one. I haven't picked up this book yet, but I am thinking maybe When Autumn Leaves with this...http://www.etsy.com/listing/81421331/fall-leaves-autumn-felt-brooch-pin?ref=favs_view_10 Fall leaves autumn felt brooch. Both I want. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for making me really think. I just signed up for epic reads, too. My screen name for that is indiereadergirl0329

Pretty! I was just looking up felt holiday ornaments on Pinterest!!
DeleteThe book I just finished was Thirteen Reasons Why. The pairing that comes to mind for this is a mixtape. I'll admit it is a little obvious, but the mixtape has a somewhat different vibe from the cassettes Hannah recorded in Thirteen Reasons Why.

I'm almost through Not a Drop to Drink and I love the items you chose to feature-though Lynn has no use for them, the colors really work with the cover.
ReplyDeleteHere is the link to the book and review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/645662647
ReplyDeleteHere's the link to my item which matches the cover:http://www.asos.com/Eleven-Paris/Eleven-Paris-Tahar-Printed-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3288073&SearchQuery=shift&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=204&sort=-1&clr=Scarlet
And I had to do one more.
ReplyDeleteI love dresses , especially shift dresses and the fact that I found three that go with this book is awesome.
The first dress has to do with the birds. Kate loves listening to birds early in the morning. There is also another bird that plays an important role in the book. http://www.asos.com/Sugarhill-Boutique/Sugarhill-Boutique-Shift-Dress-in-Parrot-Print/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=2672723&SearchQuery=shift&sh=0&pge=2&pgesize=204&sort=-1&clr=Navylilaclemon
The next dress goes with all the colors in the cover:http://www.asos.com/Paul-by-Paul-Smith/Paul-by-Paul-Smith-Pauls-Photos-Dress-with-Graphic-Leaves-Print/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3192065&SearchQuery=shift&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=204&sort=-1&clr=Black
The third dress reminds me of the description of Blackmoore the estate which is given in the book comparing it to a black bird getting ready for takeoff:http://www.asos.com/Les-Prairies-de-Paris/Les-Prairies-de-Paris-60s-Shift-Dress-with-Padded-Shoulders-in-Metallic-Brocade/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3365885&SearchQuery=shift&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=36&sort=-1&clr=Midnightor
