Extra! Extra! is my weekend post featuring brand new additions to my TBR pile as well as a summary of what's new on the blog.
This weekend I'm linking to Stacking the Shelves @ Tynga's Reviews or to Sunday Post hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
This week, not surprisingly, all the books I got were from BEA. Here's the pile:
Here is a link to the full list on Goodreads. This year, one of my goals was to get more adult books, and I was really excited to get the new Tana French - love her! I'm also trying an Ilona Andrews book - never read of anything of hers, but I'm excited.
I did manage to get the books I was most excited about -- The Mortal Heart, I'll Give You the Sun, Heir of Fire, The Walled City, and The Darkest Part of the Forest -- as well as a bunch of other great stuff.
I also got so see some of my favorite bloggers: Karen from For What It's Worth, my BEA guru and mentor; Steph from The Fake Steph; my wacky partner in crime; Kate from Midnight Book Girl; Kim from On the Wings of Books; and Lauren from Love is Not a Triangle, my favorite book drop buddy. I also got to meet some great new bloggers: Danielle from Love at First Page, Hannah from So Obsessed Blog, Betty from Book Rock Betty, and Jenni from Live to Read Love to Read, among others.
On Friday, I helped host the second annual Book Bloggers Picnic in Central Park, along with Andrea of The Overstuffed Bookcase, Alexa of Alexa Loves Books, and Katelyn of Kate's Tales of Books and Bands.
The picnic is a low-key, fun event but not without its challenges. First, we have to make sure everyone can find us. Last year, the temperature was about 100 degrees. This year, the weather started out beautiful, but toward the end of the picnic, it started to rain. Fortunately, those who read my tweet:
... were among those who had this towel bag to dry themselves off:
It was still a lot of fun. I ordered t-shirts designed by Alexa, Katelyn brought lots of crunchy snacks, and Andrea ordered an amazing cake. (I thought I had a picture of it, but I can't seem to find it.) Also, I wasn't feeling great at the picnic and didn't get to meet everyone, so I'm sorry about that. I missed the last day of BEA because I was home in bed! Next year, I am going to load up on vitamins and wear a mask in the days leading up to BEA, so I am 100% healthy.
Hope your week was great and that you got some amazing books too. Say hi in the comments and I'll visit you back. Because I was sick all week, I'm a bit behind in returning comments, but I spent a lot of time catching up yesterday, and I will get caught up soon!
Awesome haul of books. I see that you got a lot of great books in your haul. I hope you love all your new finds.

Yay! It's so fun to see these posts. I'm glad you came back with so many great books and memories, Jen--can't wait to hear what you think of MORTAL HEART! Also envious that you got to spend time with Lauren and Karen, two of my favorite ladies around the blogosphere.
ReplyDeleteTabitha! I'm so glad you had such an awesome time. I love that you saw Thea and Mary and Anya in particular...and Cassie from Disney! How lovely to see her face after so many emails.
Loved your photos, and the FANTASTIC breakdown of the number of books, chicken strip meals, and so on. I don't blame you one bit for maximizing your experience and very much look forward to hearing what you thought of all the books you brought back. :)
