Extra! Extra! A Day Early

Extra! Extra!

Freebie Friday is on hiatus this week because I'm away, so I thought I'd start the weekend early!

Extra! Extra! is my weekend post featuring brand new additions to my TBR pile as well as a summary of what's new on the blog.

This weekend I'm linking to Stacking the Shelves @ Tynga's Reviews or to Sunday Post hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

NEW BOOKS:

I have two new books that I just snapped up on Edelweiss:

The Fall Illusions of Fate

The Fall by Bethany Griffin -- a retelling of The Fall of the House of Usher!
Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White REVIEWS:

On the blog, I reviewed Complicit by Stephanie Kuehn. Highly recommend this one if you're a fan of psychological thrillers.

On Goodreads, I reviewed:

The Things You Kiss Goodbye by Leslie Connor, a bleak book about a girl with a bunch of bad relationships.

Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern, a book I'd given up on until my friend Karen from FWIW Reviews urged me to give it a second chance...

Talon by Julie Kagawa, which wasn't the dragon fantasy I was expecting, but still something I enjoyed.

WHAT AM I READING THIS WEEK?

Half Life of Molly Pearce On The Fence Kiss of Deception Vanishing Season

What are you reading this weekend?  I'm almost caught up on comments, so leave me one!

  7. I just finished The Half Life of Molly pierced and loved it. I think it's one of my all-time favorites, not just for the plot but also because of how the author handles mental illness so well. It just really spoke to me, and I hope you love it too.

I thought about grabbing those two galleys off EW, but then I remembered that my September review pile is bigger than it has any business being and I should probably lay off for a while lol.

It's a shame about Talon. I picked it up about a week ago and didn't finish it. I know it has an audience, but that audience isn't me.

    1. I'm excited about Molly Pierce, And I wasn't disappointed in Talon, just ... surprised. I'm not such a big fantasy reader, so the fact that it wasn't fantasy was okay with me.

  8. I LOVED On The Fence. Just re-read it again recently actually. Ooooh Complicit is good?!?! Wish I would have know sooner. Would have bought a copy for her to sign tonight. She was at the author signing and I saw someone with it but I hadn't heard much about it yet. Glad you still enjoyed Talon. Curious how that one goes. I've liked everything from Julie Kagawa so far so I'm assuming I'll like it.

  13. YAY for new books! I also got Illusions of Fate, but I didn't bother with The Fall (I didn't enjoy Bethany Griffin's other books). I LOVED The Kiss of Deception, and On the Fence. But hated The Vanishing Season, unfortunately. TALON! I can't wait to see what you thought of that one.

    Have a fantastic weekend, Jen!

  14. Okay, nearly every comment on this post professes love for The Kiss of Deception... bumping it up the TBR pile immediately. And I'm planning on reading The Vanishing Season this week as well!

  16. I'm not big on retellings (because most of them seem to be fairytale retellings and I don't care for fairytales), but I saw The Fall on Edelweiss and it looks good. I have terrible luck on Edelweiss so I'll probably just read it when it's out.
