Extra! Extra! is my weekend post featuring brand new additions to my TBR pile as well as a summary of what's new on the blog.
This weekend I'm linking to Stacking the Shelves @ Tynga's Reviews or to Sunday Post hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Between BEA, some family celebrations and visiting guests, and the end of the school year, the past few weeks have been complete chaos -- the fun kind of chaos, but still, I'm looking forward to the lazy days of summer. (They won't be completely lazy, because I have some blogging projects and a big stack of books to read.)
NEW BOOKS!
Here are the new books that I received this week. Two of them are books that eluded me at BEA -- that happens every year and then of course I become obsessed with those books. More on that in a minute...
Vault of Dreamers
by Caragh M. O'Brien
Thanks, Macmillan for sending me this ARC :)
Black Ice
by Becca Fitzpatrick
The story behind this one is somewhat more comical. Every year at BEA there are books that seem to be everywhere. This was one of those -- multiple drops, a signing (I think) and just a lot of copies floating around. The fact that I repeatedly missed getting it became a little comical. As a promo, they had these guys in flannel shirts hanging around the booth and one of them offered me a Black Ice water bottle instead of the book.

Cute bottle (and so were the guys) but I wanted the book. The happy ending to the story is that finally my friend Karen from For What It's Worth took pity on me and sent me her copy. Thanks, Karen!

The Things You Kiss Goodbye by Leslie Connor (Katherine Tegen)
In the End by Demitria Lunetta (Harper)
Complicit by Stephanie Kuehn (St. Martin's)
Behind the Scenes by Dahlia Adler (Spencer Hill)
Thanks to Harper, St. Martin's and Spencer Hill for allowing me to read and review these!
What's new with you? Leave me a link so I can visit you back. I'm almost caught up on returning comments. Hopefully by Monday I'll be caught up :)
Black Ice does sound good. I always miss something at BEA, so don't feel bad. I try not to let it get to me. That was nice of Karen.

Books of Love
The Vault of Dreamers and Black Ice both look awesome! I've seen good things about The Things You Kiss Goodbye as well. Enjoy all the books!
ReplyDeleteI missed so many books from BEA, but that's okay. I don't think I'll have the time to read them all, anyway. I did see those guys roaming around, and thought…cute! :) Anyway, enjoy everything, Jen.
ReplyDeleteI saw the guys taking pics and had NO CLUE who they were >.< lol I was lucky and snagged a copy after a drop, and went and asked them if they had copies. That line for the signing was LONG.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about Behind the Scenes too. I think I will get to that one SOON, but who knows :)
Have a good week!
Yay, I'm glad that you managed to get a hold of the books that alluded you. I love the guys in flannel shirts for Black Ice. That's some genius promotion right there. :P
ReplyDeleteEh, the bottle is really cool too! And after all you managed to get the book to read it too!
ReplyDeleteIn The End!! I cannot wait to read that one as soon as it downloads to my Kindle!
Black Ice looks good, hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThe Vault of Dreamers looks like a great one! I'll be reading that one sometime this summer. Complicit looks really good, and so does Between the Scenes (I even have that one pre-ordered, which is rare for me). I hope you enjoy your new books. :)
ReplyDeleteOH I so have my eye on Complicit. Even though I, um, haven't read her first book (but I really really want to!). But now I'm hopelessly intrigued by Black Ice. ;) Definitely going to look that up...
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to hear about all of them :)
ReplyDeleteOoo, I'm really interested in COMPLICIT--can't wait to hear what you think of it! I'm glad you got your hands on the book you coveted, too--that Karen is worth her wait in gold.
ReplyDeleteWendy @ The Midnight Garden
Black Ice sounds intriguing. Hope it's good.
ReplyDeleteI have read Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush Hush series and though the first book was my favorite, I did enjoy the series. I'm interested to see how Black Ice will turn out! It sounds interesting enough. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you think of Black Ice after all that lol
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny that you couldn't get it at BEA. I probably could have had 50 copies if I took one every time they offered. hehe
Karen @ For What It's Worth
hahahaha. I didn't see the guys or the book. :)
