My Indie Inbox: Vote on Which Book I Should Read!

Welcome to My Indie Inbox, a new idea I'm trying out. Every month I get a bunch of review requests, and every month, I let them sit way too long in my inbox. I have a policy of responding to every request, and I'm indecisive. But I would like to try to read at least one indie book a month.

So I'd love your input. Here are three requests I received over the past couple months, three authors who have kindly agreed to join me in this experiment.  You can help me out by voting for the one you'd most like to see me read and review:

Choice One:
Hooked: A True Faerie Tale
Michaelbrent Collings

Synopsis from Goodreads: Eve has always lived on the outskirts. An outcast at high school, living in a home with no father and a mother who barely knows she exists. But when the new boy comes to school, things start to change. He's popular, he's good-looking, he's smart. He likes her. And he's a killer who has lived forever. Now, Eve has to discover the mystery behind the new guy's existence. A mystery that has roots in her past, and will determine her future. A mystery that will determine whether she lives, dies... or suffers a fate worse than death.

Choice Two:
True Colors
by Krysten Lindsay Hager

Synopsis from Goodreads: Landry Albright just wants to be one of the interesting girls at school who always have exciting things going on in their lives. She wants to stand out, but also wants to fit in, so she gives in when her two best friends, Ericka and Tori, push her into trying out for a teen reality show modeling competition with them. Landry goes in nervous, but impresses the judges enough to make it to the next round. However, Ericka and Tori get cut and basically "unfriend" her on Monday at school. Landry tries to make new friends, but gets caught up between wanting to be herself and conforming to who her new friends want her to be. Along the way she learns that modeling is nowhere as glamorous as it seems, how to deal with frenemies, a new crush, and that true friends see you for who you really are and like you because of it.

Choice Three:
Awoken
by Sarah Noffke

Synopsis from Goodreads: When sixteen-year-old Roya Stark attends a dinner party she hardly expects to be drugged, much less told by the host that she’s a special race of human with incredible abilities. Then she follows his orders, closes her eyes and enters a different world. And meets a leader of secret society who promises that his people can protect her.
This is Roya’s first meeting while dream traveling. Within forty-eight hours Roya is pulled into the mysterious world of the Lucidites with a vengeance. By that time her family has already fallen victim to violent hallucinations and the dark figure has dared to approach closer at night, hovering just outside her window. When told her world is in danger and her fate is connected to greatness, Roya knows she has no choice but to seek refuge in the Lucidite Institute. The only catch is she’ll have to risk drowning to get there… Roya thought she was just a weird teenager. Turns out she’s an extremely powerful Dream Traveler and her fate is to rid the world of a real nightmare.

  8. True Colors sounds a bit cheesy, and Hooked sounds pretty cool in a cliche way, but that cover is just… no. I voted for Awaken, which sounds the most unique. Pretty good idea with the feature! I've had some bad experiences with indie authors before, but I did like some indie books.

  11. I love this! I use to have a freebie vote on my blog - so I was able to read all those freebies I snag but I just don't have the time now. :)

I chose Awoken - because it sounds promising! :)
