Welcome to a new installment of Trending Thursday, a periodic post in which I discuss various YA trends. This week I'm looking at a cover trend that I've noticed recently:
FEATHERS!
I love the new trend of graphic feathers overwritten with text.

And I like the giant feathers floating across the cover.
I think Fracture Me and The Probability of Miracles would have to be my favorites <3
ReplyDeleteI love the Probability of Miracles. And the feather eyelashes on Fracture Me work perfectly with Juliette crazy metaphors...
DeleteWow. Interesting. Have you read any of these books? Are there birds or other feathered creatures in the stories?
ReplyDeleteGirl at Midnight, yes. I can't remember about Fire and Flood. And I'm racking my brain about Antigoddess... Haven't read all the others.
DeleteAh yes, wonder which was the catalyst. But I do love pretty much all of these covers
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question. I think a couple of the covers are reissues or redesigns, so it's hard to say..
DeleteYou're right - I didn't notice how many feathers are in book covers lately. I particularly love the cover for The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender. It's simple, but so pretty.
ReplyDeleteOlivia @ Fluttering Pages
I love that one too. Haven't read the book...
DeleteYep, love them feathers! :D They look good on book covers, tattoos, bed sheets, etc. I'm talking first-class versatility, lol :D
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... are you saying you have a feather tattoo???
DeleteI love feathers too! I have noticed them a lot lately…too bad my copy of Antigoddess (which I just got, btw) doesn’t have the feather on it.
ReplyDeleteI even saw some really cool feathers I was gonna incorporate onto my blog but it kinda clashed with the others :)
Oooh, I've never noticed this trend, but its really pretty! I especially love Fracture Me and Antigoddess' cover!
ReplyDeleteLove these feather covers so much. My favourites are the Ava Lavender one and The Girl at Midnight.
ReplyDeleteI love feathers on covers too! Especially ones with text in them.
ReplyDeleteI remember doing a cover feature on this too. :) The three I picked then were Ava Lavender, Probability and Magonia, which I was surprised you missed on this list. :) Haha.
ReplyDeleteI really love this trend. Especially with This Is Where The World Ends. It looks so amazing. Salt & Stone and The Girl At Midnight are super pretty too.
How creative and gorgeous are these feather books? This trend is completely gorgeous and I love how they've been incorporated. I haven't seen the cover for the Probability of Miracles but that's probably my favourite here!
ReplyDeleteI get bored when any type of cover becomes a trend but the feathers are so pretty on all of them!

I didn't realise the feather trend until I saw this but I really like it and I think I may be drawn to books with feathers on them because I notice a few of these!
ReplyDeleteYES! There are so many feather covers now, I've started confusing them! I won't lie, they are really pretty to look at!
ReplyDeleteWoooowww... I never really noticed! You make a good point though, haha. They are pretty to look at! The Incarnate trilogy has the best covers ever! So beautiful!
