Trending Thursday: The Wild, Wild (YA) West

Welcome to Trending Thursday, a periodic feature that looks at trends in YA fiction. Today, I'm looking at books with a Western theme:

Okay, I'm here to say that while I've lived in the West and love the wide open spaces, I've never been a huge fan of Western movies or TV shows. Cowboys, train robberies, saloon girls -- these things just aren't my favorite. But I've been tempted to try a few of these new Western-themed YA books:

Under a Painted Sky Vengeance Road Walk on Earth a Stranger Revenge and the Wild
Under a Painted Sky by Stacey Lee
Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman
Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson
Revenge and the Wild by Michelle Modesto

What are your thoughts on Western themed books? Have you tried any of these? Let me know in comments.

  2. I tried to read one last year. It was YA in a Western setting, but with zombies running amok. I couldn't get into it, to be honest.

  5. I've been trying to read these books for a while because I've heard they're really good, but I never had enough time.
    They sound interesting!

  6. Ahhh, I haven't tried any, except Relic by Renee Collins a few years ago, BUT I REALLY WANT TO. I mainly want the Rae Carson one because RAE CARSON. *hyperventilates* Otherwise I'm not actually interested in the wild west. My dad was always obsessed with John Wayne and got us to watch an episode and it was soooo boooooring. BLEH. I didn't mind the Johnny Depp wild west movie (of course I Can't remember what it's called. >_<) but heehe it's not my favourite thing. Maybe because I'm not American so it doesn't hold much magic for me?? WHO KNOWS. Either way the covers are stunning for this trend! :D

    1. I'm American and I feel the same way about Wild West fiction and film. I'm just not sure I'm interested.
