Books I Wish I'd Had Time to Read in 2015

As the end of the year approaches, I've made my "Best of 2015" lists and am looking forward to new 2016 releases. But I'm also thinking about Books I Wish I'd Had Time to Read in 2015.  (I'm also trying to make my Goodreads goal.)

Are there books that you really, really meant to read in 2015 but, for whatever reason, just didn't get around to them? Here's my (short) list and my reasons that I didn't read the book.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Leigh Bardugo is one of my favorites. I have no excuse for not reading this yet, except that at the time I tried to read it I was really really tired. Going to try it again Now that I'm more rested.

Winter by Marissa Myers

I've read the rest of the series and I love the new covers. Okay, with this one it was the length. I am going to read it very soon.

In comments, please tell me about the 2015 books you didn't get around to!

  1. I haven't read these either! Six of Crows - HYPE scares me. Winter, I stopped reading the series. And I don't think I have been in the best state of mind for a YA mental health book, but I sound like sound of those two!

As for my books? Hmm.. Fated by Sarah Fine. I wanted to catch up on the BDB series by JR Ward. The Lies About Truth. All the Rage.. I mean, I could be here all day!

    1. Definitely think Lies About the Truth and All the Rage are worth getting to! I haven't read that Sarah Fine -- will have to look it up!

  2. I honestly cannot think of a single book that I desperately wanted to read this year that I didn't. Even looking at my unread shelf right now nothing speaks to me (which is also why I'm struggling to pick a book to read right now).

And you know how I feel about the Goodreads goal - change that to make it work! (I've changed mine twice already) :)

    1. Ha - I changed it from 150 to 140 and then 130. Hoping to make it to 125!

  3. You definitely need to read Six of Crows and Winter! I want to read Made You Up as well.
There are a couple of books that I didn't get to this year that I really want to get to next year as well. The 2 main ones are Masked Truth and Ink & Bone. Next year, I want to focus on 2016 releases and more on past releases.

  4. At least your list is short! I know Winter is long, but it's so easy to read, I promise!

    1. Yeah, could have made a longer list but these are the must-reads!

  5. I haven't read Winter as the shops near me don't have it and I didn't want to buy it online with Christmas shopping delaying it! I'm also putting it off because I don't want the series to end!

  6. I don't think my list would be this short! I read more this year than any year previous according to Goodreads, but there is still never enough time :)

    1. Ha, definitely! One thing I have recently learned about myself is that I need to make my goals manageable. Even four books seems like a lot to catch up on when Winter is about 5,000 pages. And yes, never enough time... :)

  7. I have only read made you up --but the blogger hype for both for winter and six of crows . I have them to read later :)

    1. Interesting that the hype drove some people away. For me I think it was that I needed to be in the right frame of mind...

    1. I was ruthless because if I made a long list I'll just tear it up and go watch Netflix instead....

  9. So funny that you just posted this because I've been composing a post just like it for the end of this week or next week. It seems I am not alone. I have a lot of books I didn't get to that I really should have. Six of Crows I'm a third through from when it first came out and had to put it aside so I'm actually going to finish that before the 1st.

  10. Ooh, Made You Up is SO EXCELLENT and it's about schizophrenia, but not at the same time? So I'd recommend reading that one before Challenger Deep (which is like wooooah this massive twisty turny schizophrenia book) if you're a bit Metal-Health-books exhausted. *nods*
I didn't get around to tONS of new releases. XD I kind of got into a read-older-books habit?! Which was grand, because I found some delicious favourites...but I'm sad I haven't read Untamed yet (I love Wonderland!! Gah) or Under A Painted Sky or Vengeance Road or The Orphan Queen or...heh. A ton of others. ;)

  11. I read Made You Up, but I still need to read the others! In my case it was because I wanted the hardbacks and I still need to buy them.
    I hope you enjoy them!

  13. Ah I have about 5 top priority and hundreds of others that I wish I had time for as well :)

  14. I have a long list of 2015 releases too that I still need to read. In January were doing a read-a-thon solely for that purpose! Hoping to get those 2015 releases off our TBRs!

    Happy Holidays, Jen!! :)

  15. OK-I totally thought Winter came out in December so I was giving you even an extra pass because of that. Dang 800+ pages is insane but I think it will be worth it. I just finished Fairest so I'm all caught up for Winter when it comes in at my library (probably in January).

  16. Winter is soooo long. But Six of Crows is good. E-mail me when you finish it so we can talk about THE ENDING.

  17. if I were to make a list like this, I'll definitely have all these four in it. I have Made You Up and Challenger Deep on my shelf but for some reasons, I still don't have the motivation to pick them up.

  18. Made You Up was one of my favorite books that I read this year. It was so good!! I hope you get to that one soon.

  19. Ditto, except for Six of Crows :) Happy holidays, Jen, to you and your family!

  22. FOR ME: SO MANY. SO MANY. THAT IS ALL.

(That was also deserving of capslock)

Of your list, I've only read Winter, and that was definitely a time consuming read.

  23. Six of Crows and Made You Up are two of my favorites this year. Hope you get to read them soon!

  24. Well. I've gobbled up (AND LOVED) Winter, Six of Crows and Made You Up, and they are tiny morsels of deliciousness and loveliness and (in the case of the latter two) - morally dubious protagonists. I can't recommend them enough. Though I sure do try.

I'm SO excited about your impending thoughts on them all!

And Challenger Deep has been added to my 2016 TBR jar. I can't wait to fish that particular slip out.
