Welcome to Trending Thursday, a periodic feature in which I discuss some sort of trend in YA. Today I'm talking about titles again. Is it me or are there an awful lot of boys and girls in YA titles?
At first I thought one gender was more represented than the other, but as I began to look for examples, I'm not so sure.
Ladies first...
And now for the boys....
I love this feature. I never realize how prevalent a trend is until you put them all together!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Huh, I've never actually thought about this one, and now that I am, I see what you mean.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I don't think "Man" and "Woman" are ever really used in adult book titles. Perhaps girl and boy are used to make sure people know the books are YA?
ReplyDeleteLove this feature so much, never fails to make me laugh!
ReplyDeleteOh my God! I never realized there were so many!!! And the sad (or glad?) part is that I've read half of those.
ReplyDeleteLovely post, Jen!
Wow you really don't noticed these things until you put them all together. That's quite an impressive list! Kill the Boy Band is anther boy title ;)
ReplyDeleteHa. That sure is a lot of boys and girls. Hadn't really noticed until you put it all together! Really enjoy this series of posts, btw.
ReplyDeleteI actually LOVE the boy/girl in the title. XD I think it's cute for some reason?!!? And of course The Raven Boys uses it and THAT'S ONLY MY FAVOURITE BOOK OF EVER ERGO IT'S A GOOD TREND. XD
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, there IS a lot. Now I won't unsee it when I'm at the bookstore~!
ReplyDeleteWow, there are so many books with Girl in the title! And quite a few with boy in it too, although I wouldn't have thought of that myself D:
ReplyDeleteLOL Excess indeed! :D
